Click on the camera icon up above to see a couple pictures of our latest camping trip. It was to Big Sur this past Veteran's Day weekend. I had just finished the Toytec 3" lift and installed a 3 chamber Flowmaster. Truck sounds great and towed great as well. After the lift I did have to upgrade my WD bars to the 800-1000 lbs. size before I was happy with the ride and levelness <sp> of the truck.
Isn't that Grand Canyon amazing? You can see pictures of it, you can see movies of it, but it's not until you're standing on the edge and looking down and looking across it that you really can realize - "Oh, my God. This thing is HUGE." You can never really grasp it without seeing it in person.
Those are some great pics. What model Jayco do you have?
We have the JayFlight 20BH. That's about as much as I was willing to tow with a Tacoma and changing trucks was not an option. Not saying you couldn't tow more of a trailer, but this is well within my comfort zone. Truck pulls it nice and it's plenty of room for us "empty nesters".

I agree! This was my first time seeing it in person and you're right there's no way a mind can comprehend it's vastness and beauty until your see it for yourself.

Jayco JayFlight 20BH, I wouldn't think of towing a 27 footer with the Tacoma.

Nice trailer... I have a DC and I tow a 26' TT with my truck. 5000# loaded weight. Truck does very well with no sway. I have a KZ Jag 24JB http://www.kz-rv.com/jag/jag_24jb.php I'm up in Tracy, CA not far from the origional poster. Towed the trailer down HWY5 and up through the grapevine with no problems at all. These "little" trucks are tough. Definitely need a weight distribution hitch though which I have. Using a friction sway control just for assurance as well. One of these days I'll make it to Big Sur. Photos are an inspiration to do so. For now I've stayed mainly in the Sierra Foothills. Thanks for posting the photos. Good to see others are using their trucks as trucks.
FYI for those curious... the difference between the Jayco 20BH and the KZ 24JB is not 6' but only 3' difference. Weight differences are minimal as well. I threw this in for the benefit of others who may be inspired to purchase trailers and go camping. You can go bigger and stay within your towing limits.

Very true, both on the toughness of these trucks and the trailer weight/length issue. You have to really look at the weights posted on each trailer (the stickers inside the trailer itself) as they vary a lot. My 20 footer is on the heavy side for it's length because it's loaded with a lot of options and finishing touches that other people may not care about having. I use a WD hitch and friction type sway bar too. I have run the trailer down the highway without the sway bar, just to make sure it wasn't masking any inherent flaws in my set-up and was vey happy that I couldn't tell the difference between it being on or off. I leave it on for a little peace of mind though.
