I have a 2006 v8 double cab, i have pulled half a single wide trailer up a steep grade in a rocky sandy woods trail for my brother in 4 low with the front tires almost lifting of the ground, the frame bump stops hit hard on flat surface driving at low speed, had to haul 5 miles , and it was 15ft wide . hard on vehicle but she will do it with no problem. 2-15/16 ball on receiver, I have pics i will post later

i have fit 4 55gal drums of 15/40 and 3 1/4 drums of 85/140 with a few cases of oil, it was pretty much on the bumpstops, drove 60 miles up hill, she loved every second of it....
a 55gal drum is about 450lbs and a 1/4 drum is about 150lbs case of 15/40 was 50 lbs. that was a fair amount of weight in the bed lol.

It's paid off and and starts when i turn the key

I can imagine most of us at one time or another have dropped a whole front loader scoop of gravel in the bed, thats pretty much well over a half ton, truck on bump stops definetely . lol

My wife and I are looking into getting a 21' travel trailer but before I do so, would something like that be too much to tow for our 2001 V6 Tundra SR5? Says on the bumper 5000lbs which is repeated on the tow hitch. Just want to be sure before we jump in and buy a trailer.

Two main things to consider. The towing capacity of your Tundra and the weight on the tongue, or hitch. It appears that your towing capacity is between 4900 and 5200 pounds, depending on bed length and options.

6800 lbs dry or loaded? Even loaded that's quite a tug. If it's a one time shot and not too far you could do it but it won't be fun. If that's dry weight then probably not.

I have an 03 stepside 4.7 V8. I have towed a travel trailer, with a quad in the bed, and a dirt bike on the front hitch. Got it on the scales and it weighed 12,700lbs. I've towed several times from Tucson to Yuma sand dunes and back.
The truck pulled well, mileage wasn't great, but didn't overheat or seem to lack any power.
