I'm looking to get a hitch for the tundra and right now it sounds like a drawtite but I can't find any useful photos or info of the hitch on a tundra. I'd like to get one that is fairly hidden like the stock toyota one but I think the price for it is crazy.
Also, what all do I need to use the harness for trailer lights. Drawtite I guess has a kit the plugs into the rear harness. They said it included the harness for up front. Is this true? Does it have a nice little box to hide it in when not in use?
Jeff
The Drawtite hidden hitch is tucked up like the Toyota hitch. It only bolts in 6 places and is a Class III instead of Class IV. Depends on what you want to do with it and how much weight you plan to tow, etc. The 2000 harness is different than the 2001 and later. It is available from Drawtite and others fairly inexpensively. Do not believe that it has the little storage box. Check with the DrawTite dealer though. They probably have a sketch. BTW I bought the Toyota hitch after I got my vehicle because I liked the design...it is pricey, though. SteveG at Carson Toyota will give a great discount to TS Supporters, though, and ships anywhere. You can email him at gonzo4u@earthlink.net

I bought a Hidden Hitch for mine from ultimate truck.com. Its only a class III so it only bolts to the frame, but there is no drilling, just bolts on in about 5 minutes. They also have the wiring harness that i also got. It doesnt have the box to hide it in, but I just unplug it when i dont need it and throw it in the glove box.
SurePull Hitch, on e-bay for 85 plus shipping. Toyota port install, manufactured by Danna, like some of our driveline parts. I love the hitch because of one reason. The welded plate at the base of the hitch rolls up the back of the receiver hole and isn't square, which is great for getting hung up on rocks when dragging your bumper on a 4x4 road - by the way is the reason 4WD should be engaged period.
The receiver is considered Class IV when a weight distributing hitch is used. The sticker on it should say that it's rated for something like 8000# with W/D, and that exceeds the Tundra tow limit anyway.

I also have the U-Haul round tubular. I did some checking and it is made by Drawtite so I know its good stuff. If I remember my literature, it is a Class III and when you use weight distributing bars it is a Class IV.

Toyota Port Installed Hitch. Looks great. Class IV I understand. Haven't yet done any towing but expect it will get the job done. I'm with Judy. (Almost have Steve Gantz's number memorized) He and his crew have been great to talk to and their prices are incredible.
Well, I wanted to pull my mustang up to michigan this spring which is why I'm wanting one. I went to Uhaul last night and saw their hitch that they say is made by drawtite. It doesn't look anything like the drawtite I've seen though.
They won't rent me a trailer
They said my truck is only capable of towing a 2,700 pound car and the mustang is 3,326. They looked up my friends 98 1,500 4x4 and it can pull 3,300? What knida crap is this. So all these s10 blazers pulling big boats can handle more than my tundra, and a 98 1,500

Tell your local U-Haul dealer to call their headquarters. The Tundra is not listed correctly in the dealer info. We were able to rent a U-Haul trailer to tow a '57 T-Bird (weighs more than your 'Stang) after the local dealer called HQ. We towed over 1200 miles from central Washington state to Los Angeles with absolutely no problems.
Same as "Tundra Rose", Draw Tite Class III hitch, I've pulled a horse trailer and a small bobcat + trailer with no problems.
Ricey,
Sorry for any confusion but I was answering questions from the research I did on DrawTite. I actually ended up buying the Toyota 8-point hitch for mine (last line of my post.) DrawTite was my "close second"choice at the time.
