Default Weekend Warrior and Tundra

Excuse my ignorance and I have been reading through these forums trying to figure this out. I am in Honduras doing ministry work and will be returning to the states for the summer in 2 weeks. We do summer work traveling and I need a toy hauler. Back to Honduras in September.

Since time is short for us, I have to do my research from overseas and that makes it difficult.

I have a 2005 Tundra SR5 Access, V8, TRD package, Towing Package. I am looking at a Weekend Warrior Superlite FB2100 Toy Hauler. As it sits, it is just at 4500#. I fgure I have about 1500-2000#'s with bikes, stuff, people and gas. The GVWR is 7650. Toungue weight lists at 715. I would be buying a stabilizer hitch. We will be traveling from Texas to Alberta, Canada - down to Sturgis, SD and back to Texas.

Am I making the biggest mistake of my life? I towed about a 3500# trailer last year without missing a beat all through the mountains. How bad will this be? I don't care that I have to drive 55-60, I'm more worried about tearing everything up and/or wind problems.

The trailer is at http://www.warriormfg.com/fk-frame.htm the FB2100 model.

It's crunch time as a decision has to be made soon.

Thanks,
Paul

Paul,
I'm getting a fs2300 and did alot of research on this. Th WW I'm getting is about 5500 lbs.equipted. with my racebike, tools and gear I will be close to 7200 lbs. I have towed that much before and my truck (same as yours) did fine. The thing you have to remember that weight you are coming up with is with no propane, water, or gas. what I've decided to do is travel with just my gear and propane and when I reach my destination I will fillup then. This plan is not perfect but in beats buying a bigger piece of ford, chevy, dodge junk.

Tommy,
I looked at the For Sale models and really thought about them, but didn't want to push it. If I was just going on weekend trips it would be one thing, but we will run probably 7000 miles with the trailer this summer. Plus I'm driving through Colorado, Wyoming Montana, etc. Those mountains can be tough.

The For Sale would have been great since my wife and I will be in this thing as our summer home. Our advantage is we are living in a not too much bigger place in Honduras for the last 6 months. We're used to close quarters living WITHOUT killing each other.

It's just the 2 of us and right now 1 Honda Shadow 750 plus a little gear so I don't think we will be packing too much.

I have only seen the Weekend Warriors online, what do you think of them up close and personal??

Paul

For the money they look great. they are also the lightest I have found. you can order one with less options and really drop the weight. the ones they have been getting here are dual electric beds fuel station generator so on. If it is just you and your wife the fk1900 is very nice you really get alot of room with the kitchen up front and only one drop down bed. I wish I could get the 1900 but kids, dogs and wife it is just not enough places to sleep. good luck any more questions about the WW I will do my best to help.

I have a deposit down on a FB2100 in Texas. I get back on June 10 and need to be on the road to Canada by the 22nd. I researched these Toy Haulers online, but I can't go and look at them in person. I had wanted to get the Outback 23KRS, but a friend in Texas went to look at one and said it would have been hard to get my bike in and out. The other I looked at was the R-Wagon RW-291 but after reading on this forum I didn't think a 30' trailer was the way to go. They have a lot of room and the weight was close.

As soon as I ran across the WW I made my decision.

When do you get yours? Take some shots of it with your truck and post them up. We may cross paths some day, I get over to Daytona/Orlando occasionally. Usually for Bike week or Biketoberfest.

sounds good I'm usually racing in the biketoberfest races and hopefully this year without renting a hotel room! I looked at alot of haulers and 99% of the ones I looked at are based on thier TT models (NRG,HOBBI,NITRIOUS) when they did this the weight goes through the roof. The WW is the only big company that started and only make a TH. you should checkout rv.net in the toy hauler section 99% of those guys have WW's and post all problems if any and what to look for when buying. hopefully by 15 june I should have it. good luck

Thw WW are nice. I wanted one but could not find one light enough for the Tundra to pull that had 17 feet of cargo space I just wish we could have ordered one with half the cabinets taken out.

Don't you have a screwdriver?? What do you need 17' for?
I can't wait to see these in person. We will be back in the States tomorrow and will be at the dealers on Monday to pick up the unit. Can't wait. Last summer was OK, but slept in the cargo trailer when we were out on weekends. (see pic)

I was wondering how it went towing the WW FB21'. I have a 04 Tundra 4x4 crew cab and was interested in a toy hauler like the one you mentioned. I have thought about putting in an intake, a chip and an exhaust. I don't know if that would increase my towing capacity. But I am concerned as you are about killing the truck by towing the hauler

I don't know yet. I am still out of the country and fly in today (Sat). I have heard nothing but good things about them and hope that on Monday or Tuesday I find out first hand. I just have a good feeling about these after studying and reading on Toy Haulers for the past nine months.

As soon as I know, I'll post my findings.

You're going to be overweight with that setup. Unless you tow it empty. You'll have to go with empty fresh tanks and dump the black and gray before travelling. I couldn't tell where the tanks were located.

Do yourself a favor and weigh it with a fully loaded trailer and truck. Then at least you'll know where you stand. If you're under the GCWR, I'll buy you a donut.

Yeah I did not want to start "Tearing up" A very expensive trailer.

I need the 17' for this. And I was going to just get the boxed trailer and add some living items until I found this trailer
