Do I need a hitch?

I have an 03 Tacoma 2wd Prerunner w/ the V-6 engine. I don't believe I have the towing package. I need to tow a golf cart on a small trailer. Can I just add a 2" ball to my bumber (since the hole for it is there, right below and in front of the license tag) or do I need to get a full hitch? If I can tow it with just a ball, where do I need to attach the safety chains? In either case, do I need to install a wiring harness for the brake lights or is one already on my truck? Thanks.

Absolutely..
Get a Hitch (Receiver)and Wiring Harnass installed..
You will not require a brake controller as the golf cart trailer will most likely not have electric brakes..
A 2" ball, installed on the bumper, will be to high to tow with on the Tacoma..
You will need a drop ball mount from the Receiver Tube to the Trailer Coupler to have the trailer in a level postion for towing..
