Default Emergency Flashers when towing

I have a 2000 Tundra that I use to tow a Weekend Warrior Trailer. When my truck is hooked to the trailer with the 7 pin connector, the emergency flashers won't work. When it is disconnected, it works fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ken

I'm having the same problem with my '05 Tacoma. Hopefully someone will chime in with a solution.

Do the turn signals work (both left and right) on both truck and trailer when the trailer's 7 pin connector is connected to the truck?

If so, I suspect there may be a problem with the relay for the 4 way flasher or the turn/brake combiner in the truck's wiring harness (there may also be some corrosion in a connector that produces enough resistance that when all turn signals are activated, there's not enough current to illuminate the bulbs.

If not, then you probably have a short in the turn/brake lighting circuit(s) of the trailer (not uncommon).

Ray,

Turn signals work both left and right on both trailer and truck when connected by 7 pin.

Had a hunch they would. And that means you'll need to get the truck's wiring schematic from the TS Garage and start troubleshooting with a test lamp and probably also a multimeter (for checking resistance of connections). Likely to be a real PIA to do even after you find all the relays. Good luck.
