6x12 enclosed trailer with thier 4wd Tundra? I am looking at getting one and wouldn't mind hearing what some of you have to say. Even if yours is slightly larger your input would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

I pulled a 6x10 enclosed box (add 2' for the V-nose trailer also) trailer with a curb weight of 1440 lbs (not counting my 550 lb MC inside) using my 2.7L 06' Tacoma. A total of 2,600 miles without a prroblem in 6 days round trip. Do you really think your Tundra would have a problem?

Nope. I just got my trailer. It is a 6x12 enclosed and weighs 1380lbs. empty. Had no problems. I have a buddy with an 01 TRD V8 4WD, and he towed about 4000lbs with no trailer brakes. He said he had 0 problems and towed in over drive with no problems. I am begining to think that people highly underestimate these trucks.

If you tow over the highway and through the ocassional city streets, then towing doesn't place a lot of wear on the vehicle.

As for towing 4000lbs, anything over 3000lbs in my state require bakes by law. That seems to a reasonable number to me. Getting it going is one thing but stopping it requires something else.

Towing requires planning ahead. Planning stops, planning for whatever could come next. In my profession that is what we do constantly. I am sure there is a law around here like that. I don't plan to pull anything over 2990, so I'm not really all that concerned.

I tow a 6X15 Wells Cargo Cyclewagon that is 8 ft tall. Empty weight is
around 1400 lbs and it gets up to 3000 lbs when fully loaded for a race.
The trailer is equipped with a nose cone which helps the handling when
encountering cross winds or passing semi's.

I have pulled this trailer for six years all over the country without problem.
My Tundra could handle the towing chores for the most part but was
really working to keep up on long grades like the "grapevine" in SoCal.
This was due more to the "barn door" effect than weight.

My advice if you don't need the height, would be a trailer that is the same
or only slightlty taller than the cab of your truck. That would allow the trailer
to be tucked in aerodynamically speaking and the only penalty would result
from the increase in weight.

I got a 6x12 that is the same height as yours. I have only towed it empty and it weighs 1380 empty. My truck pulled it like there was nothing there. I only noticed a slight change in fuel mileage.
