Default weight question

i have a v6 tundra
it is rated for 5000lbs
i dont know how heavy of a trailer you can pull without brakes.
say i need to pull a 1700lb trailer with a 1700lb truck on it
thats 2400lbs
do you think i can pull this 2400lbs with NO brakes and be safe
the trip would be about 5 mile in town
is this safe
is this legal
ps i live in arkansas
i know the engine will pull it and im pretty sure it will stop it
im just want to know how well it will work
this is a one time thing really

1700+1700=3400 lbs (Never seen a truck that only weighs 1700 lbs)

Not safe, but you can mitigate the risk by travelling carefully. My rule of thumb for trailer brakes is simple: if the total weight of the trailer and truck exceeds the GVWR of the truck, use trailer brakes. The law often requires them, but I don't know what it is in Arkansas. But for 5 miles, just drive slow and careful.

omg 2400 3400
i was off by more than a bit
simple error made when we rush things
thanks for pointing that out
if that load needed to be hauled oftne or for a long distance at high speeds i would probaly try to borrow a bigger truck
but i feel that it willl be ok
3400 is alot
the truck probaly weighs 2500
thats 5900
thats most likely more than the brakes where intened for
best drive slow and pick a time of day of low traffic

In Arkansas anything over 3000K needs to have trailer brakes, and it must have a breakaway system

If you rent a U-haul car carrier, it will have surge brakes on it. You can also use a tow dolly and be within the limits.
