2007 Tacoma Towing

I just bought my Tacoma w/TRD Off Road and towing package. 6500 pound capacity/650 tongue wt.. Any one have suggestions on a toy box/hauler brand. I'd Like to dry camp for a couple of days, so I need water and on board generator. I could go with portable generator.

Good luck finding a toy hauler that's within your weight range. I have a travel trailer that's pretty light and is about 5000# loaded weight. A toy hauler is going to weight a lot more once loaded. Even though it's says 6500# tow rating that's not including any passengers or gear. If you're looking for something and you reference the dry weights of the trailers then look for a dry weight listing 4000# or less. GVWR should be no more than 6000# to stay within your limits.

Your truck will tow well all the way up to its limits, but exceeding them is never a smart idea. As long as you stay under the 11,100 lb GCWR and don't exceed you payload with the tounge weight you will be fine. I tow a 1967 Land Cruiser FJ40 that is about 4,300lbs with an 1,800 lb Uhaul trailer a lot (looking to buy my own trailer soon) and my 2007 Tacoma DC tows well past my expectations for a truck its size. I will say it feels more stable now that I added Super Springs and the back end of Tacoma doesn't bouce near as much over bumbs when towing.
