Default Mirror Extensions???

I have an 07 Sequoia...just bought a travel trailer to pull behind my beauty.

Wondering if there are any factory extensions for the side mirrors or if clip ons are my only route to go?

Any advice would be appreciated.

There are no factory extensions that I'm aware of. Nor are there any aftermarket replacement mirrors that I'm aware of. Some folks find that clip ons work OK, many (most) find they vibrate too much.

The one aftermarket towing mirror that seems to work very well (most of those who bought a pair are very happy) is the McKesh. McKesh mirrors are pretty expensive and they're not that great looking. But they really, really work...vibration free image and very easy to put on/take off after initial adjustment.

As always, Ray has hit the nail on the head. You can try the CIPA clip ons, but you won't like them. They have a universal kind that fit on the Tundra mirrors, which I would assume are a lot like the Sequoia. I tried the Tow-n-See brand and they wrork great on my wife's mini van but won't fit on the Tundra mirrors. I have the McKesh and Ray's description is spot on. They work great: very stable with outstanding visibility. You look like a hillbilly and they must be installed. Not a real PITA, but a small PITA.

I ended up installing a rear view camera on my travel trailer. It serves 2 purposes: 1. If I don't feel like installing the McKesh, I can see what's behind me (the stock Tundra mirrors allow me to see what's beside me) and 2. It is a big help for backing up (when even side mirrors aren't effective).

But, the only mirrors that I've found that work are the McKesh.

Tom

The McKesh mirrors would be an excellent choice.

At this point I'm using the CIPA UTMs on our Sequoia and find them very good as well, at a much lower price. No vibration, easy to put on and easy to adjust.

My one word of advice if you choose the UTMs is to get the convex mirror for the right-side mirror because it'll open up your field of view down that side of the trailer.

One thing I like about the UTMs is that they swing in if you pull the truck's mirrors in, which means you can get into the garage without having to take them off. If we're going out two weekends back to back I just leave them on and put the truck away in the garage for the week. Makes for a quicker getaway next trip out.

Thanks Tom, I already have a rearview camera (bec-105) installed in my tailgate handle, but your setup for the trailer looks great. Can always use an extra set of eyes when towing. How did your wires for the trailer? Do you have some kind of quick disconnect for the trailer camera between the trailer and the truck? Just curios how you ran your setup.
