Hi all-

I wanted to introduce myself and say hi. Your forum really appears to be a good source of information.

I am looking at purchasing a slightly used 2004 Tundra...and I was wondering if there are any factory recalls or major issues I should be concerned about?

Secondly, I intend to use the truck as a daily driver....but since I am a boat owner...I need something that is an adequate tow vehicle. My boat, engine, trailer, fuel and gear weigh in around 5100lbs. Most of my towing is around town....but several times a season, I tow an hour or two away.

My current tow vehicle is a 1995 Tahoe 4 door, 4wd with 57,000 miles and I must say that I am very dissapointed with it. It is very unreliable. It has a longer wheelbase than my old 1996 Bronco but has no umppph and gets terrible gas mileage (non towing). I am attracted to the lines of Tundra, its better gas mileage and Toyota's reputation for building reliable vehicles.

Your feedback is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

So, does anyone think towing a boat & trailer with a combined weight of 5100lbs would be okay with a 2004 4wd Tundra with the 4.7L engine?

I tow my 5500-6000 25 foot boat with my 05 Tundra 4X4. Its tows the load just fine. No problems with sway, power, or at the launch ramp. As with any heavier trailer, make sure your trailer brakes are in top working condition.
