I used to be (and am still) VERY pro Toyota and Honda (some Nissans) only.
However, in 2007, we bought my daughter a new Hyundai Elantra (year the new body style started) and that car was super cheap and it has been amazing car.
I never, never thought that I would say this ... but it is better than the 2007 Civic that my buddy bought.
Since my life's job was "speciality vehicles .. ie military and ect.. I did some research on this vehicle and Hyundai in general. The reason that they can build such a good car at such a cheap price is the indirect and direct subsidies from the Korean govt.
I hate to say this ... but, if you want a great car at a great price .... the Elantra is it.
