Truck Bed Tonneau CoversDiscussions about Truck Bed Tonneau Covers.
This is a discussion thread titled "Bakflip; Foldacover; Topdawg; Extang?", within the Truck Bed Tonneau Covers forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
My Tundra is due in on August 8th and I have reviewed several posts regarding the bed covers. It seems that the backflip has the most positive posts and I'm looking towards purchasing that for my crewmax. I also liked the solid fold due to it was accessible from both front and back. Also the top dawg has the same capabilities but have not read much about that one. The extang seemed to have leak problems and thus I decided to stick with the backflip. Does anyone know of any others that may be out there.
Thanks in advance.

have you checked out foldacover? I have read good things about it. Protection from the rain is pretty important and I think many of the covers have problems keeping the bed dry....
my undercover arrived today!!! Installing this weekend... after my line-x goes in on Friday

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy a Bakflip!. I just ended a 3 month fight with them. 3 days after I had it the seals started falling off. A month after I had it the rear latch started falling off. All they will offer to do is send you a repair kit. I ended up having to get my credit card company involved to settle it. Bakflip has a wonderful idea but it is poorly executed with cheap workmanship and materials. Besides, their cover is actually 1" too short, but they'll never admit that.
I think the TopDawg One piece is awesome. I wanted one but ended up with a CRAFTEC TONNEAU TRUCK BED COVERS instead due to the price. I have a CrewMax and saw that they made one specifically for it, plus the inexpensive price really enticed me. I love the way mine looks, really low profile and easy to use. It will come completely off in 2 minutes to make it back to a full pickup.
The undercover seems like a solid well built cover, the concern I have with it would be scatching the paint on my box. The undercover overhangs the box on the sides. The box on our trucks seem to flex quite a bit, the undercover will not flex with the box, so I can see there being some issues with it scraping the paint due to all the movement of the box. I may be wrong, so feel free to correct me. I have ordered the foldacover for this reason, I looked at the backflip and xtang but I found them to be a little more flimsy than the foldacover IMO. But the foldacover does also have a higher price. I have been waiting for the Foldacover for 4 weeks now, and hope it will be here soon. I am not even sure how the Foldacover works with the deck rail system, so if anyone has a Foldacover lets hear what you think.
I to have a bak flip about three weeks old. Mine is nothing but trash. The weather stripping has all came loose and it will not close right. I tried e-mailing bak flip but they will not respond. Once they get you money they don't have time for you. I would stay away from this brand if I were you. Just junk.

I am assuming your are in Ontario? I am also considering the foldacover. I believe its out for the crewmax but their website does not show it. If you are in Canada, can you tell me the cost and whether you ordered locally or through a website?
I just ordered a Craftec hinged soft tonneau cover. It ran $278 shipped. I looked at tri-folds, roll-ups, and hard covers, but for the money, this I think is a great buy. I wanted an inexpensive low profile cover that would come off quickly by myself. It only weighs about 30 lbs. The only hardware that stays on the truck after you take it off is the hinge right at the back of the cab. No rails to worry about. I like that fact that it has gas struts that lift the cover high in the air out of the way and you don't have to fold back or roll the cover back, just open it. It will also not open unless I open the tailgate. Not as secure as a hard cover though but less than half the cost. Will post pictures once I get it installed.
I also purchased a bakflip and about 2 months into it I've been increasingly frustrated. I would not recommend the product and will be purchasing a better quality product to replace it.
Access makes a good quality roll up cover. I think these folding covers are kinda gimmicky. My trucks so high up that I would rarely need to get something from the front of the bed.
