Truck Bed Tonneau CoversDiscussions about Truck Bed Tonneau Covers.
This is a discussion thread titled "RedsBeds", within the Truck Bed Tonneau Covers forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Is anyone familiar with this company?? It is similiar to the Diamondback cover, but folds like the fold-a-cover. www.redsbeds.com. You can get it in the silver diamond plate or powder coated black.....
I wanted a redsbed, but too pricy for me. So here is what I bought-- plan to do. I am very pleased with the cover, look in the photo gallary on their site. crafttecinc.com
I bought the carbon fiber looking one, they also have diamond plate material. My plan was to take the vinyl off the frame and install black metal diamond plate to the frame, you can order it online cut to size. just google diamond plate sheets.
Now that I see how it looks, I may just take the vinyl off and put an aluminum or mesh sheet on the frame and put the vinyl back on.
The point of my madness is that I want a metal substrate for security.
At this point I have $250 into it. Oh, and it comes off in 30 seconds. total weight 30-32 pounds. No drill install and uses two points on the track rail sytem to mount. You can still use the cleats as intended..with a little less flexibility. I asked them and they will just the frame for $150. Then if you spend another 150 on diamond plate material, you will only have 300 into it--and have the same basic look. Obviously if you are looking at the redsbed for putting weight on top the cover this wont work.
the website is CRAFTEC TONNEAU TRUCK BED COVERS you had an extra t in it. i as looking into picking up the carbon fiber one too. please post some pics when you get it installed. if it looks to fake i probably would just go with the black.

Mine is the same as the one they have in their softtop photo gallery. It does not look like it is metal by any means, clearly looks like fabric--I just thought it looked better than the black, less shine and more texture, more of a matte finish then gloss.
I had a pace edwards---like a roll-n-lock on my last truck and I like this better, plus its way cheaper and you can take it off literally in under a minute. I was on the fence about the faux CF too, but I think I made the right choice.
I look at it like this, though they call it carbon fiber, no one would know that that was what you were trying to immulate, people will just think you have a black top on there.
A good comparison is this, if you like black cloth convertibles- get the black, if you like black canvas convertible tops get the CF.
I will say everything they claim on their website is true. They have a 3 year warranty on all parts including the stiching. Also, offer $20 less than the website price. I offered $50 less, they said no, but took $25 less. I guess I am still in negotiation mode from the purchase of the truck!!
I've yet to see one in person but I'm also curious about them. When I first got my '07 I tried doing some surfing on them but didn't come up with much.
hey guys, I am THE manufacturer for most of the parts that go into each redsbeds. I make the clamps, struts, clips, etc.
I have one of these beds myself of course, and I can tell you, we drive our yamaha four wheeler right up on it. it is heavy duty, comes in diamond and can be powder coated. these are not vynil, but are made from t6 aircraft grade aluminum. these things are tough. I also use it in a field service company I own. these are starting to pop up everywhere around here. the owner of redsbeds has a new dodge that has the inside of the bed carpeted, has the built in tool box, the side racks, top racks, etc. man it looks good! we set our 150 pound tool boxes on top of the cover everyday, and when locked, I don't have to worry about my snap-on tools being stolen every time I go to walmarts, lol.
if you guys call redsbeds.com and tell them Dennis sent you, you just might get a discount. Talk to Judy and give her a hard time for me, lol.
oh yeah, these things don't leak. i can get a few drops in it if i use the power washer and try to spray around the edges, but I have to try. One of my friends just came back from cajun land and went through some torrential rains. all of his fishing and camping gear was bone dry.
good luck guys
DD
