I still hold my position on the instructions. It IS your product in the box and they are distributing it. Its your instructions, correct?

I'm just saying that the instructions need to be redone, ok? Regardless of what you say about Youtube being the best instructions out there.

The jutting rubber has settled. I am pleased about that. A day outside in the sun did the trick. The trim is flushed nicely.

I should get the missing bolt tomorrow per an email from autoaccessories. Which is a good thing. I will never buy from them again. I have purchased things on the Internet and that by far was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The NO-REPLIES was the kicker not to mention the 'tracking number' 2 days after it was already on my doorstep.

My beef isn't with you, really. Its your distributor. I'm sure your product will do wonders on my truck. And I'm sure you and your staff would answer all my questions and/or installation issues if I had called. I just expected the guys I bought the thing from would be of more help.

I'm done.

Aloha

Had the G1 and it was horrible! Contacted BAK, and they did send replacement rubber seals. Like stated earlied, they just stuck on with self stick strips.

I was so dissapointed, I mean this thing would really leak. It was like having no cover at all. A total waste of $500.00

I finally took it off and sent it to the land fill.

They had my address, since it origionally shipped from the factory, and they sent out the replacement rubber. They could have contact the G! owners, and offered some type of exchange program. Too late for me, because I threw mine in the trash.

If I were smart, I would have purchased from a local dealer, paid a little more, but had local support for the warranty.

Over the years I have purchased several BAK products for my assorted trucks. But the BAk Flip experience has turned me off.

Go here to see what I have to say about it and pictures too.
I got to agree the instructions were not the best but then again what male reads them until you have lots of extra parts. I do have to say I was disappointed in there kit per say to mount there setup with the stock rail system, I thought it would actually mount on them in their stock location but all it does is move them lower with metal plates which are not even painted to match (Black) but I will take care of that this weekend before I reinstall the rails. I just wish that for this much money they would of done better with teh mounting kit for the stoak rail system. I personaly think it would of been a easy thing to do to make a bracket that could slide into the stock rail and mount it that way with out having to remove it and relocate it. Over all I got to say it looks good and after a day or 2 in the sun the rubber edges lay even flatter now. I just wanted to post my experiance with it so far out of the box.

After reading many comments and questions on this site about BakFlip, I thought I would share the most up to date information on BakFlip G2 with all of you.

After sending out a few thousand BakFlip G1 covers between Feb and June of this year, we unfortunately came to find out that many of the components used were ultimately failing. This was largely a result of defective rubber seals / 3M adhesive combination which we only found out about due to failures in the market. There were a few issues with gas struts as well on the G1, which put an uneccessary amount of strain on the covers, but the seals seemed to be the primary plaguing issue.

After much hair pulling, frustration and effort, I, along with my key staff sat down and decided to re-engineer the BakFlip from top to bottom, rather than try to put a bandage on the G1. The result is the BakFlip G2 which we introduced late in July of this year.

The new G2 is a far more robust product. The first change made was to the seals. Rather than rely on adhesives, we redesigned the panel frames to accommodate a rubber seal that applied with a tongue and groove design. Kind of like a lock and key. The rubber is fed onto the frames and has resulted in a superb finish which is as strong as nails and absolutely cannot fail.

Next we got away from having to use any tools. All you need now is a single wrench. The install is far shorter and the components used are professional grade knobs etc.

We also changed the Aluminum on the cover, adding 28% more aluminum. The result is heavier panels. In addition the aluminum panel frames have no tape under them. The design underneath encompasses integrated drains, rendering the G2 almost 100% water-tight.

The gas struts never did lock properly on the G1 and as mentioned, put unecessary strain on the unit. We therefor changed to a locking arm-stay on each side. This puts no pressure on the cover and will also keep the cover locked in place so you can drive with it open.

The latches under the cover are now modular. They can be slid fom side to side which allows a real tweaking of the locking feature if required.

All in all, the new BakFlip G2, although similar looking in appearance, has undergone a complete overhail. The result is a phenominal cover that will surely walk away with most awards in it's category this year at SEMA.

I have posted a video of the G2 on YouTube at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/v/NWH0r7gAjsc

I invite all of you to review it and share your comments and suggestions with me at my personal e mail address : julian@bakliner.com

I'd like to leave you with an assurance that I, along with my entire coimpany is 100% dedicated to producing the finest truck bed covers on the market. If we are not, I need to hear about it. I believe in this new G2 with all of my being and trust that you will as well.

Thank you all for the support you've shown over the years and thank you for your honesty. It's allowed us to make a brilliant product.

Kindest regards,

Julian Maimin - CEO

I am one of the unfortunate ones that bought a G1 from Real Trucks. This cover was/is horrible, leaks water really bad, panels are bowed down, everything that you would not want in a cover this is it. I filed a claim in the 11th month of the warranty and it too was horrible. They claimed that the warranty was almost up and they could not do anything. I wanted a G2 replacement but said they were no longer doing that. After several back and forth emails and a letter to the BBB, they said they would rebuild the G1 back to original specs ( a known manufacturing/design problem) who would want that and it would only cost me $80 shipping back to BAK. A G2 was offered @ $400, now I would have close to $1100 invested on a cover. This IMHO is a rip off. BAK has done a horrible job in both their product and customer service. Real Trucks continue to sell their products.
