Default Armor Lid vs Undercover

I was about to spring for the Undercover when I found the Armor Lid on the 'net.

Can anyone describe the differences between the two? They are made from the same basic material so on and so forth.

However, the Armor Lid can be delivered for about $150 less, which is significant.

I'm wondering if the Armor Lid is going to be a good cover or should I spend the extra money for the Undercover?

Thx,

Hi 1Slick55,

I actually printed out the installation guide of the Armor Lid and compared it to the Undercover installation guide. The parts and installation seem very similar; on the earlier Undercover models, I believe they used the rings setup mentioned in the Armor Lid, but Undercover did away with the rings on later (improved) models. The underside of the Armor Lid looks more finished than the Undercover underside, but seeing the ribs of the Undercover underside shows me the strong side of the unit; not sure what's hidden under the Armor Lid under side.

You might want to visit both web sites and see what their respective product offers that you like or don't like. I have the Undercover and am very happy with it; if properly installed it does what it says it will do. It was never promised to be 100% waterproof; I paid $650.00 for my Undercover installed by the ordering dealer. The Armor Lid is not available in my area and there are no dealers within 50 miles of my location, which is another reason why I went with the Undercover.

I recently talked to a salesman who works with a distributor of both covers. The salesman called the distributor while I was there and asked him my questions. The distributor said that the ArmorLid has been buckling in the hot sun and that the warranty is not held up very well and is made in China. The Undercover is made here in the midwest and is backed up strongly by warranty. He said that 95% of his sales are Undercover over the ArmorLid. Just FYI. I am still weighing pros and cons of various covers before paying the bucks.

07DCwhiteSR5, your cover on the white looks tough. I am very happy for you that you have a commitment from the dealer. I talked with a rep from Undercover yesterday to gain the same commitment; hopefully I will be happy with it and it doesn't leak as he said that was a problem when they first came out because the weather flap on the cab side was not place properly.

well, my decision was made easy as I found (locally) a 1 year old Undercover on Craigslist for $425.

It's very nice, fits great and doesn't leak with the rains we've had in the last week or so.

I'm addicted to Craigslist!

Undercover has a patent on the design that's on the underside of the cover. It makes the cover very strong and rigid and thus is more strong and rigid than the Armor Lid.

Just finished the install with a Armor Lid. I love it and have had no leaks. I paid 475 shipped. I also talked to the direct rep from that said that they will back it 100% as well....
