Anyone here been able to take the cover through a touch-less car wash with those power blowers? Do you have to take the cover off 1st? or can you leave it on? Those blowers are pretty powerful IMO.
I wouldn't do it. The rubber seals are attached to the cover with an adhesive tape. I'd be afraid that the pressurized water and blowers would weaken the seal.
I've attached a pic of mine. Not sure what you're looking for. Are you trying to see what it looks like on the outside or how it mounts without rails on the inside?
On the Tundra, w/o rails, the Trifecta will mount directly to the walls of the truck right under the bed rail (even if you have rail caps, it mounts the same way).
Everything they say about convenience and ease of use is true, which is why I love it. The bad news...I'm on my third one due to "aero strip failure", the rubber strip that connects the vinyl cover to the frame has torn on my first two Trifectas. The good news is that customer service is great, willing to send another out very quickly -almost as if it is a recognized problem. another negative is that it flaps in the wind at highway speeds. The Trifecta a great idea, but the design is lacking an a couple of areas. Good luck.
Hey, I just ordered a Extang Trifecta cover for my 07' DC with the 6.5" ft. bed with rails. Everyone I check out on the net yesterday had these for sale for $386.10 I went to this place got-chrome.com or call 888-552-4788 they dont call it the extang on the net but when I called them, the guytold me that's what you're going to get. I paid $299.99 +$40.00 to ship it to me. total= $339.99 This is an Extang trifecta #44951 Call and ck it out!
I just installed my second Trifecta on my Tundra. The first one got ripped due to a stupid move on my part.
The interesting thing is that the second one fits much better than the first did. I think Extang has fine tuned the cover to fit better. It's just a little bit longer than my first one. Also, I just drove through pouring rain and there wasn't one drop of water in the bed when I got home. My original cover allowed water in.
You will like it. I've had mine for three years & it still looks great. It gets opened & closed all the time. One suggestionon't over tighten the front two clamps. It is not necessary and will make them hard to get loose when you want to remove the tonneau. Just snug them so the top doesn't move. Don't worry. It won't fly off. Mine sat through a week of pouring rain and stayed dry. I did notice some "dampness", once. That was just in the front part of the bedliner. Maybe I left something loose that day. I know I left the back two clamps unfastened and it started raining(of course) in the middle of the night. But when I opened the top the next morning it was completely dry. I have a reg cab with the 8' bed.
What are the differences in the ones with bed rails and with out regarding the installation.
The only difference is if you order the one for bed rails, they toss in a bag that contains 4 metal brackets that mount into the rails. The cover itself is the same. So, you can just order the one with rails and use it on a truck that either has them or not.
Incidentally, I discovered that the rear brackets are not required as the rear handles can clip directly into the rail.
Here's a pic of the metal brackets on my truck. If you picture the rail not there, then the hold down would just clip directly under the metal that runs along the top of the bed.
I got my Trifecta in Thursday and installed it Friday ('07 DC). Exactly what I wanted... a quality, decent priced cover, now I need to convince my wife to let me order a bed rug
I haven't tested it with water yet, but I do see some light looking into the bed towards the corners behind the back cab window. I think this is because my bed caps cause it to sit up higher since that piece of the bed doesn't have caps... I would think adding a small layer of weather stripping at the corners would fix that though...
Extang Trifectas have much better seals than the competition - i went with the solid fold for security - but the Trifecta would have been my first choice for a soft cover.
