I'm looking into a cover for my 07 DC and just wondered if anyone has any opinions on the Extang Trifecta tonneau cover.
I like the way it closes and compared to some of the other manufacturers that do the same, the price seems reasonable.
Have one on my '07 CM, and I really like it. I live in an area with pretty extreme climate changes, so I was a little concerned with it over the winter when we drop to -40, but not issues at all. It's about as easy as you can get as far as installation. Took me longer to get it out of the box than put on the truck. I won't use the word "flap", but the vinyl does move around some when your driving at highway speeds.
So far I'm very pleased with it, it looks great on the truck AND its functional. Been seeing a LOT of them on trucks up here the last few months, so I guess that says something.

That's good to know. We have extreme climate changes here in the Toronto area too.
When you say it "moves around...at highway speeds" does it move so much that maybe it scratches anything or rubs anything that might damage it?
Also, if i needed the whole bed opened, does it come completely off easily?
I have trifecta myself. Bought it for several reasons. Light weight. Easy to install and remove if needed. Weather-tight. Inexpensive compare to others. And I do not like clip on covers.
Did not have even one drop with it in by bed. Serves me well since August 2007.
The only con that people complain is that someone can use the knife to open it and look inside, meaning no real security. But I do not carry anything in my bed, plus I do not live in that kind of neighborhoods.
Bought it from Autoanything. great price, plus it was free delivery.
Hope it helps.
What he meant by moving is that you can see the vinyl go up and down from wind on high speeds. It will not damage it. I would not say it flaps.
If you need to open the whole thing, you would have to remove it. It opens only 2/3 of the bed. 1/3 remains covered. But it will take you less then 2 minutes to do it.
I have one and love it. I tow a 5th wheel and can leave it on, when done towing it covers hitch and every thing in box of truck. I have never had a reason to take it all the way off,but it takes less than 5 minuets.

Pros?
Cons?
Deals?
Other suggestions?
I'll hang up and listen now,
Thanks,
I live in Guelph and bought my truck from Milton Toyota too, so I can give you a "local" review lol. I have the Trifecta on my DC and as others have said, it is no problem in the winter. In fact, it has an advantage over hard covers. Freezing rain and ice/snow is very easy to remove. Mine had a good coating of ice on it one morning and i just pushed the vinyl with my hand and it broke up quite easily due to the flexible surface. Then I just swept it off with a brush. Dead simple.
The cover does ripple in the wind at highway speeds. I only hear it if i have the rear slider open. At first, I found it irritating, but then I just got used to it. It sounds like a small flag blowing around in the wind is how I'd describe it.
Oh, and it is SO convenient in how it folds up or comes off. I can literally have the entire cover off in under 2 minutes. Very light to lift off the truck and stand it in the corner of my garage if I need the full bed. Most of the time, just folding it up and securing it with the built in straps is what I do.
Its not 100% watertight. If I drive in pouring rain, water comes in where the hinges rest on the bed rail. Not a lot, just a trickle, and with my bed mat, my cargo is still dry. The water just drips down along the bed wall and then runs out the back by the tailgate.
I picked up a bottle of "Tonneau Tonic" which is sold under the Extang brand. Once every couple of months, I just spray it on the cover and wipe it off with a cloth. Cover looks like its brand new after and it protects the fabric from cracking.
I am extremely happy with the Trifecta and give it . The only other model I considered was the Extang Solid Fold, but the early versions had problems with the hinges.
Thanks Seadragon, good to hear.
I take mine to Milton Toyota, but I actually bought mine over in the US.
Thanks for the "local" review on the cover...I think you and everyone else have sold me on it.
Just one more question....Where'd you purchase yours from? Here in the area? or did you order from the US?
Thanks to zpaul I've been looking at Autoanything.com, just waiting to find out their shipping costs.

I picked mine up here in Guelph at Van and Truck World up on Woodlawn Road. I think it was $399 if I remember right.
Hitch City on Dixie Road in Mississauga also had them and they were in stock. So if you're looking to get one same day, you might want to check with them.
Oh, and don't forget to pick up some Tonneau Tonic.

Gave both these places a call and they both sell the cover for $399 installed.
Maybe someone here can tell me what's a "rail-system". They keep asking me if I have one when I ask for the cover and I'm not sure if I do or not. All I know is that I have the plastic "caps" on the top of the bed that are on both sides and go around the bed....no liner and nothing else in the bed.
Are the top dark-grey caps the "rail-system"?
You probably don't have the rail system. See attached image to see what the rail looks like.
Don't let them charge you for an install. If you don't have the rail system, it will clamp on to your bed without any hardware install. Should take 10 mins.

Ahhhh.....nope, I definitely don't have that.
As for installation, they said the price includes it and it's easy.
