Truck Bed Tonneau CoversDiscussions about Truck Bed Tonneau Covers.
This is a discussion thread titled "advice on tonneau cover", within the Truck Bed Tonneau Covers forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Just got my son into an '08 regular cab 4x4 with standard bed and he wants a tonneau cover. With all the prior experience her I would like help in choosing the best choice for ease of use, longevity and value. It needs to be durable to handle heavy snow loads also.
Thanks

The G2 bakFlip is pretty good and can handle up to 300lbs of distributed weight. I have one on my truck and I think it looks real good, nice and flush. If you prefer a soft cover, I would go with a Truxedo very nice looking, holds up well in all weather conditions and has a lifetime warranty. I have some great deals running, give me a call or pm me if you any other questions

I've had an Access rollup cover on my regular cab for almost 5 years now. It's been great; very convenient to roll up when I need to haul an unexpected load. I can't say how it will hold up in snow, but it holds up to rain very well.
Check out the Undercover hard tonneau. I've had two with no complaints and holds several hundred lbs of pressure.

I just got my new Tundra double cab 4wd sr4 5.7 and love it. I am thinking about an access for one main reason. Lifetime warranty on everything. I keep vehicles a long time so how can you beat that. I have heard nothing but good about them. I would like a hard cover but I will be pulling a 5th wheel trailer so that's out of the question.

Hard Solid Covers: Best bang for your buck is Undercover. It's lightweight, you can stand on it, easily removable, has a small bedlight, and reasonably priced. It only comes in black.
Fiberglass covers are nice because they are painted to match your truck. But, they are heavy, you can't stand on them, and don't plan on removing them. They are priced higher also. There's a ton of brands on the market, Leer, Jason, ARE, Snuglid, etc.
Hard Folding Covers: Good because you can open them up and drive with them open and you don't lose a foot of the bed like retractable covers. I recommend FoldACover covers (black powdercoated aluminum).
Retractable Hard Covers: Good utility but you will lose a foot of bed space at the bulkhead due to the roll up cannister. You won't go wrong with Retrax (Lexan), RollNLock (vinyl laminated aluminum), Pace Edwards (they have several covers), American Roll Top.
I bought an access cover. My reason also was lifetime warranty on everything including the material. I also keep my vehicles a long time. Only use it for towing and going to Arizona in the winter from South Dakota so not too many miles put on my truck. How can you beat lifetime. They are extremely easy to install and very high quality. That's my 2 cents.
