Truck Bed Tonneau CoversDiscussions about Truck Bed Tonneau Covers.
This is a discussion thread titled "Soft bed topper (not tonneaus, not hard shells)", within the Truck Bed Tonneau Covers forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I know there are a few of you on here with the soft toppers for your tundras. We are looking at one for our crew max. Mostly for the occasional hauling of the dog for hunting, camping, etc... I have seen the soft topper brand, and I know bestop makes some (but maybe not for the tundra?)
What we specifically want to know is how well they seal, how well they stand up to highway speeds, and is there a window between the cab and the topper? Any other in sight will be appreciated.

I am not sure if BestTop makes one for the Tundra but we have one on our Tacoma and love it. It fits very well, flows with the body lines (better then all the rest), the windows are easily removed, seals perfectly, and has taken over 1000 miles of abuse so far. Yes their is a clear window to the cab that never comes out. Most of the time we run around with the side and rear windows out because the dogs get too hot.
Re: Soft bed topper (not tonneaus, not hard shells)
I emailed Bestop a few weeks ago. They said they don't currently make a soft top for the Tundra. They didn't mention if they were planning to in the future.

Re: Soft bed topper (not tonneaus, not hard shells)
I have a softopper on my 2000 extended cab 4wd. The sides roll up and so does the back. The front section with the plastic window is removable too. The topper on my truck sits even with the inside of the bed allowing access to the bed side holes for a "rail type' rack to be installed. I don't notice it all with the sides rolled down at 70 mph. With the sides up It makes a little noise but nothing extraordinary.
I got mine to carry two large dogs when we're stopped somewhere. I pull the truck behind an RV with a Kawasaki Vulcan in the back. The top goes down when the bike's loaded and its up all the rest of the time.
