I agree. This has got to be the biggest mpg myth out there. I have a Vanish tonneau cover and have not noticed any mpg gains. And if there are any, they aren't noticable on my ScangaugeII. I do love that my cargo stays dry, but then again, so do the insects and spiders that get in there

LOL... never bye a tonneau cover just to save gas. They can help in certain situations. Very specific conditions are needed for any improvement such as specific speeds, etc. I could even see it costing you if its a very heavy fiberglass model.
The general idea is that a cover protects whats in your bed and if it saves you on some fuel then thats a bonus.
Never had spiders in my bed that I noticed though...
