Default Tonneau Cover: Fiberglass or Aluminium?

I'm thinking of a tonneau cover, but want it to be the color of my truck.

Looks like the ABS ones can't be purchased in matching colors, and the fiberglass ones really weigh a lot.

That leaves aluminium. The LT Sport tonneau cover looks like a good deal, but I'm not aware of anyone else making a cover out of aluminium.

Any thoughts on what's the best color-matched cover?

...and why you like that one!

Thanks!

Ive been researching covers as well. For a paint matched quality cover I like the LT sport cover you mentioned.

Depends on priority I guess....

Keep in mind the ABS covers can be smoothed and painted by a body shop usually for around $200... I have had it done locally for a few customers...

You won't beat painted fiberglass for a smooth sleak look... They are also typically the least practical cover to own depending upon what you do with the bed of your truck...

I seriously doubt that an aluminum cover painted would ever look as good as fiberglass...

In the end to some degree you have to choose whats most important to you... perfect match or functionality...

Aluminum for function. Fiberglass for form. This is a classic battle in my house. I buy a pair of boots that are comfortable, and last me about 2 years (function) but they aren't the prettiest things out there. My wife buys a pair of shoes that turn her feet into hamburger meat, last a month or two (or one charity ball season), "but they look GREAT, honey!!!". (Form).

In my case, I'd choose the aluminum because I do need to use my truck as a truck a lot, and a cover that doesn't require 2 friends and a forklift to remove is a must. YMMV.

The Aluminum LT all the way IMO.

Lower profile, lighter weight, you can stand/walk on it, 2 people can remove easily (usually my wife and I).
Looks like it would color match perfectly, Scott takes your paint code when you order, and has an auto body shop paint them for him.

I have the textured black powder coat for it's resilience (I beat the piss outta mine and my truck) and I like the black accents on my Tundra.

FYI...LT Sport and Lazerlite are the same, LT is paint matched, Lazer is Powder Coated.
