Went with the low profile Leer 800 bed cover. Totally changes the look of the truck I must say. I did get the optional light, but should have went with the keyless entry too...But no biggie as I will be adding that and wiring it to my alarm so it will pop off the alarm remote.
Just waiting on my BedRug to arrive on Monday to complete the look.

S W E E T !!!!!!!!! I just posted a question about the Leer 800, and they moved my post to another forum.
While I have your attention, I have some questions about the 800.
1. According to their propaganda, it is their only tonneau cover with the "Quick Release Hinge System". Just how easy is it to remove, and can one person do it?
2. I do a lot of surf fishing, sometimes in fairly high winds. Does it seem sturdy enough to take some windy conditions in the raised configuration without being damaged?
3. I was quoted a price of $994.95 for the 700. If you don't mind, could you tell me how much you paid for the 800. The dealer recommemded it because he said a lot of customers were scratching the top of the 800 Tonneau with their keys because of the lock location. I think the 800 looks a lot better than the 700 because it has a much lower profile.

1. According to their propaganda, it is their only tonneau cover with the "Quick Release Hinge System". Just how easy is it to remove, and can one person do it? I would said pretty easy. Only took them 45 minutes to install, and I have not tried to release it yet, but looks to be easy enough.
2. I do a lot of surf fishing, sometimes in fairly high winds. Does it seem sturdy enough to take some windy conditions in the raised configuration without being damaged? Ya it does. The struts on it seem very rigid, and would for sure think it would hold up against strong wind.

I paid $979 for it installed..That was with the optional 3rd brake light, but had the $40 off coupon on their website, which basically made the light free. If you are concerned about scracthing(which I am) the top of the cover, just add the keyless entry option..I did not, but am going to do it whether I use an aftermarket one or what..And will make it to pop with my alarm. I am waiting to here back from LEER to see if they can sell me just that option since I just had it installed yesterday.
Good luck with your cover, Ken
Thanks bro! I answered your questions above inside the quote. And the 800 for sure looks much better!

Looks like a very nice piece...good luck with it! To date, on my 07 CM, I haven't been able to make up my mind, on which bed cover to install...maybe this will do it for me... B.
Got the Leer 800 installed last week and it looks great. One small problem though. I ordered the cover with the Keyless remote, but they didn't ship it with the tonneau cover. The remote arrived on Friday, but with no programming instructions with it.
The dealer has never programmed one before so he had no clue how to do it. Of course Friday was a Holiday, so the dealer has to wait untill Monday to contact Leer to get the instructions. By any chance has anyone done this before? It would be nice to be able to use it to prevent scratching the top with my keys.
Awesome on the keyless option! I still need to order that option, and will have mine to operate off of my aftermarket alarm, so I don't have to have a seperate remote.

The activation directions for the remote came today. Piece of cake. All you have to do is to hit the button on the receiver unit 3 times quickly. When the light comes on, hit the remote button once. Works great, and no more worries about key scratches on the top.

Ken
Does it come with separate remote or can you program factory remote to lock and unlock??
Thanks.

Finally got some pictures of the Leer 800 on my truck. So far it has worked out great, and the remote control option has performed flawlessly. To answer the above post, it is a seperate remote control. I can operate it from inside the cab, so I don't have the extra remote to carry around on my key chain.
I know this thread is a couple of months old but I just bought a Tundra and am considering the same tonneau cover. How do you guys like it after a few months of ownership? How easy is it to remove the cover if need be? How well does it seal out the elements, especially rain? Thanks!
