Default Do Xtreme Flat tonneau covers lock ?

I am looking for a locking, lightweight, matching paint, removable tonneau cover. I looked at the 'Undercover' Tonneau but it's comes only in black. I have a white 2010 double cab.On Xtreme's web site instructions for the 07-09 install are not clear. Is it's an outside element protected key lock (I live in New England). Is there anyone on this forum that has one? Are you happy with the functionality and durability? Does it need inside bed rails or any drilling of the bed? Here is a link to the web site: Toyota Tundra XTreme Flat Tonneau Covers
Thanks,
GIB187th

Default Re: Do Xtreme Flat tonneau covers lock ?

Hi GIB187th,

You asked:
Quote:
"Do Xtreme Flat tonneau covers lock?"
Answer: The new Tundra covers do not have a "lock" (with a key); instead, they "latch" from underneath. Most newer Tundra's are already equipped with a lock on the tailgate. Your truck bed would be secure with the cover latched and the tailgate locked. When closed, ALL you would need to do is open the tailgate in order to gain access to the latches that secure the cover. There is no need to open the cover everytime you need access to your truck bed. The absence of an exterior lock on the cover also eliminates having to carry (or LOSE!) an extra key and makes for a sleeker looking cover.

2nd question:
Quote:
"Does it need inside bed rails...
Answer: Yes, the installation requires Toyota's "deck-rail' system. I believe this is standard on the Crew Max? The LT Sport cover bolts directly to the deck-rail system and therefore no drilling is required.

The installation instructions for the 2010 Tundra are identical to the 07-09's. You can find them on the website mentioned above.

...or any drilling of the bed?"
There is no drilling required to install the LT Sport Cover on your Tundra.

I hope this answers your questions?
