I am looking into buying a retractable bed cover. However, I am on the fence between the Roll-n-Lock and the Retrax tonneau covers. I also looked into Paragon, but there were too many complaints for me. I have read some reviews posted 4 and 5 years ago and I was wondering if anyone could give some updated pros and especially the cons of these bed covers. My two main concerns is problems with long term use and fading and anything else that you have experienced.
Thank you!!

I installed the Pace Edwards "Jack Rabbit" retractable bed cover on my 2007 Tundra two years ago and am very satisfied with it. It is all aluminum with a black powder paint coating on top. It did however leak slightly during a heavy rain...but so do all the retractable covers I've seen and asked the owners about. I did not get the vinyl cover retractable cover because I was afraid it would fade quickly in the Austin sun.
I managed to reduce the leakage problem to a very minor degree by buying and installing weather seal bought at Home Depot.
Got the same cover on mines as Virg. I am glad I went with the full metal cover vs. vinyl. I've had vinyl covers before and if you don't continuously treat them, they fade and wear. I am very pleased with the Pace Edward low profile look.

I too have the retrax and it has held up great so far. The only problem I have with it is when the back window is down (crewmax model) and you are cruising at 40+mph you can hear the cover rattling around in the wind which can get annoying at times, but other than that it is great and I paid about $1000 but I got it locally I found it online for about $800.
Pace Edwards Vinyl cover is horrible... The cannister is cheap and flimsy, the frame rail mounting design is not very robust. Although it was the cheapest of the bunch, so I guess you do get what you pay for. Having said that, I can't knock the company as they bought it back and paid for freight to and from. I don't have any experience with the full metal ones.
I have had 3 roll and locks and liked them. They leak just a little in very hard rain or if you don't clean out the drains in the canister as debris clogs the 1/2" drain tubes INSIDE easily. I would have gotten one for the tundra but I didn't want to lose 14-16" on an already short, short bed. I got the bakflip2 instead and I am sort of happy with it. The bakflip2 leaks a lot more than the roll and lock, but at least I can easily, completely remove it if I need to. The other annoying issue is when you do load up the truck all the way, the bakflip rests against the back window of the truck, which not only is a "damage" concern (although no damage has occured yet), but it completely blocks your view out of the back, including that of your "load".
If I had to do it all over again, it would be an even tougher choice as I would be leaning toward getting the roll-n-lock...
Has anybody tried or seen this Peragon Truck Bed Cover - Retractable
Looks like you can remove it pretty easy and it folds up tight along the back of the bed when open.
The only thing I don't like is how far the rails sit inside,I guess so you can still use the stake pockets.
I've been trying to pick one for the better part of 2 years and still can't figure out which is best for my needs...problem is they all seem to have some disadvantage...guess I'm not helping much...B.

I ordered my Pace Edwards Jack Rabbit last week and it should be delivered tomorrow. I will let you know how the install goes as well as my satisfaction with a rather pricey add-on.
Hate to burst your bubble, but the PE Jack Rabbit is vinyl laminated aluminum. The vinyl will fade if you don't keep some sort of UV protection on it.
The best cover for non-fading is probably going to be Retrax (made of Lexan). Then, powdercoated aluminum, then last is vinyl.
A better choice would have been the PE Full Metal Jacket, but it's about the same price as the TruckCoversUSA and it's a better cover than the PE. Both are black powdercoated aluminum.
The Extang Solid Fold is black powdercoated aluminum and is a folding cover, not a retractable cover.
