I have the Leer 800 tonneau cover and have an off the wall question. If you know me, I am always trying to do something, so don't ask. LOL..I know the cover is constructed of honeycomb fiberglass, but does anyone know if I mounted something that weighs about 10lbs to it, would it hold up there? This would be on the underside of the cover. You figure the hardware/lift arms mounts to it, so it should be somewhat solid.
Leer never answers any questions that I send them...Imagine that! So I turn to anyone that might have experience, or know someone that might have done something of the sort.

Hmmm crazy ideas don't we all have them....
The only problem I see if that it is honey comb design. So when you go to bolt your mount to the topper it may not have anything under the mounting point, unless you plan on say putting the bolts through the topper and placing maybe a piece of flat metal stock on top (painted of course) to distribute the load some. Another option I can think of would be maybe get some metal stock and mount to the exisitng mounts and create like a metal mounting bar on the underside. My bet would be they mount some type of backing material were they have their mounts already to create a stronger mounting point than any other spots under the topper.

Just thinking out loud here, a thought I had was to fiberglass mounting bars into the topper, thus spreading the weight evenly across the surface, hope that made sense.

Re: Leer 800 Tonneau Cover Question *Not The Norm*
I think you are good to go. I have seen them mounted under tonneau's like that before. The general idea was to spread out the weight evenly. Given the cover is only so thick, the last thing you want to do is to drill through it, or have it sag in the middle. I have seen them kind of pivot mounted where the top of the screen is mounted to the tonneau then the bottom slides on a rail so that when the tonneau pops up the tv kind of swings down.....if that makes sense.
A big thing my buddy had in his show truck was a automatic tonneau and tailgate. He would hit a button on his remote and the tailgate would swing down and the tonneau would tilt up... he had speakers and amps and everything in the back of his for shows..... just an idea.... I think it was made by tailgator or something like that....
