The current G2 and the HD use aluminum panels. The differences between the G2 and the HD are:
1. The G2's surface goes through one priming step and the HD's surface goes through two priming steps.
2. The HD is slightly more rigid because the core material is slightly more rigid.
Keep in mind that some dealers may have G2's in stock that are made of plastic. All the currently manufactured G2's are aluminum.
I know mine is not aluminum. This thing is starting to sag and some of the glue joints are starting to fail. Do you know what there policy is on this. It is almost a year old.

Give them a call directly, maybe they will help you. I have never recommended Bakflip and I have been criticized for it. However, it looks like I have been on the right track.
I've read through some of the older posts and read why you don't like the Bakflip. Do you think with the change in materials the quality will improve? I really like the functionality of the Bakflip, but am concerned about the quality.
i'll try getting them on th phone on Monday. I have not really had much trouble with the cover other then the delamination. It fit the bill for what I need. I think it should last a little longer though before it comes apart. I have found a couple of spots where some one tried to pry it open. A soft top for me was not an option at any time and the full bed solids don't really work for me. Heck maybe they will send me a new and improved version. I have learned though if I do replace it with something else it won't be a PVC/styrofoam sandwich.

There is no question that the Bakflip versions G1 and G2-plastic have quality issues. I sincerely hope that the aluminum versions are an improvement, but it's a bit early in the game to render an opinion.
I bought the Extang Solid Fold (nearly got the Bakflip - if it weren´t for the bad reviews) - same functions, easy to install and no
issues after almost 2 years in use.

My experience with the BakFlip warranty is that the clock starts running on the date of sale, and there is a pro-rated charge for each month in use. I have never seen the actual warranty in print or on line, but everytime I have returned a defective BakFlip for warranty adjustment, Ivan, the owner, brings out a calculator and figures how much I have to pay for each month of use. I mistakenly assumed that the warranty covered replacement for one year, without charge, in the event the cover had to be returned for replacement. I don't know how much Ivan figures each month of use costs, since my last attempt at replacement was less than satisfactory and I left, actually was told to leave, before the warranty adjustment was completed.
