Hard top Tonneau Cover affect MPG?

Hi,

I just purchased a used 07 DC 5.7. It came with SNUGTOP brand, hard top tonneau cover. When i open it, it feels pretty heavy. I figure it's at least 100lbs.

So, my question is, will the weight of the cover cause less MPG? I don't know about you, but i drive all city and get 14 - 14.5 mpg. That is crazy! I'm thinking about taking off the tonneau cover to see if i get more mpg due to the weight.

What do you think?

I have been wondering the same thing with my Crewmax's ATC fiberglass topper. On one hand it does stop tailgate wind resistance but on the other it adds dead weight...

I doubt it will help. I drove around all last winter with about 200lbs of sand bags in the bed with no affect on mpg.
