Default DIY: eLock Install for ARE Tonneaus/Toppers

When we got out LSII, the dealer wouldnt install the eLock since they didnt want to be caught in the middle of the New Car Warranty.

Well, its extremely easy.

1. Plug the connector ont he wire harness intot he connector ont he lid.
2. Route the wire along the bed rail. Use a zip tie at each drain hole to secure the wire.
3. Determine where to cut the split loom tubing off the wire. The drain hole in the bed is too small for the tubing to go through.
4. After you cut off the tubing, pull it off the wire, so the part of the wire that will stay in the bed is covered, but the rest is not. Set the cover aside.
5. Route the wire through the drain hole in the bed.
6. On the other side of the bed (underneatht he truck), put the split loom back on.
7. On the top of the frame rail, youll see a stock wire harness. Youre going to secure your eLock harness to this. Remember to leave some slack between the bed and framerail.
8. Secure it about every foot along the way to the front of the truck.
9. When you've reached about where the edge of the driver's door is, there should be an empty rubber plug . This is where the wire is going to pass through.
10. Cut off the split loom, so the part attached to the frame is covered, but the rest is not.
11. Open the driver's door, and pop off hte sill plate. Its just a sharp tug up.
12. In that sill plate, you'll see a wire harness. Towards the B pillar, you'll see it Y off, with one section staying in the sill plate, and hte other section going under the seat.
13. In the section staying int he sill plate, you will find a bunch of wires. Among these are a dark blue wire with a pink stripe, and a dark blue wire with a black stripe. Pull these aside, and put the rest of the wires back in the tube.
14. Reach under the carpet, and pop out the rubber plug you saw under the truck. Take it out, and poke a small hole in it.
15. With the plug out, feed the wire through the hole int he floor, intot he truck. Reach under the carper and pull it through. You might want to trim the wire here, as its pretty long.
16. Feed the wire through the rubber plug. Pull it through, and pop the plug back intot he floor.
17. Take your dark blue/black stripe wire from the stock harness, and use a Scrotch lock to tap your green wire to it. That is your unlock wire.
18. Take your dark blue/pink stripe wire from the stock harness, and use a Scrotch lock to tap your yellow wire to it. This is your lock wire.
19. Snap the sill cover back on. Test out your handy work. SMILE!

I rate this a 1 drink job.

Bump to post the Install Memo from ARE.

EDIT: darn file is too big. Anyone want to host it? Its a 400kb Word doc.
