TundraGeneral discussion forum for the 2007 and later Toyota Tundra.
This is a discussion thread titled "Beat up on a GTO today!", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
Yeah, about what I wouldve expected. We are fast for a pickup, but GTOs are pretty mean cars...how do I know...
and thats just the LS1, 350hp version. If you see split pipes, be afraid...cause its packing an LS2 400hp.
also, dont underestimate the Mustang GTs, even the old styles would run 14 flat with 260hp. The newer 300hp versions are high 13s w/ a decent driver. How do I know...

Well GM cut the GTO along with the Cobolt SS. Cost cutting measures are a B!tch when you don't know how to manage a companies finances.
Nothing like beating these muscle cars on a road course with a MINI.....talk about how pissy they get.

There have been rumors GM will bring the GTO back in the next couple of years. Hopefully they will because there are WAY too many Mustangs on the road these days.
I was cruising down the road with my pops and there was a newer blue Pontiac GTO behind me. Coming out of the curve and into the straight away I noticed him getting ready to pass. So as he got to my bumper I floored it and walked him about 2-3 car lengths!!!.........yeah right, he flew by me like I was sitting still lmao. I learned my lesson today, don't mess with GTOs.....at least until I get the supercharger
Word of advice, don't mess with General Motors LS engines, they are stout especially in a sport modeled vehicle. My LS1 is in a 2001 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 Ram Air.

GM had to move out all the sales threats to its new platform Camaro. So the Goats are out to pasture for a while.
dude, the new Camaro is going to be insane, for those that have not seen it yet goto chevy's website and check it out..........man, i love GM's sportscars !!!! I may have to actually sell my 01 WS6 Trans AM when the new Camaro comes out.

You never know what the vehicle next to you is packing under the hood. Though this truck has plenty of power I would not expect to win many races against sports cars. Hell, my 2003 Dodge Cummins put down 451rwhp and 789 rwtq with just a chip and intake! I have a 94 firebird as my "hobby car" and just looking at it and hearing it idle you would not be able to tell theres a 600+hp motor under the hood. It also helps that the race weight of the car is 3100 lbs The look I get when that turbo spools up is priceless. sounds like a F-16

I had a GTO it was the worst experience that I ever had sure it was fast, but besides that it was a piece of crap I love my Tundra much more it's a great truck, and it's fast.

I had the exact opposite experience with my GTO. Build quality was OUTSTANDING, great fit/finish, fast. Little boring looking Ill admit, but so were the original GTOs. All in all no complaints, but at the time, needed a truck again.
