People, yesterday i was driving to work and noticed that pretty orange picture of my 5.7 is not going away of the dash. That scared sh't out of me. phoned dealer and he asked me if i just got some gas and then he sad that they have to reset the system or something like that. And now i'm at work ,3 hr. away , thinking about that loaner Yaris which i gonna have to drive for another 3 month .Does anyone here had problems like that?
Here is the pic of my CM.
It will also come on every 4500 miles or so to remind you to change your oil. It can be manually reset per instructions in your Owners Manual.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the “IG-ON” position and make sure that the odometer is set to “TRIP A”.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the “ACC” or “LOCK” position.
3. While pushing the “TRIP” meter reset knob, turn the ignition switch to the “IG-ON” position.
4. With the ignition switch in the “IG-ON” position, keep holding the “TRIP” meter reset
knob (for at least 5 seconds) with the LCD counting down as shown in the illustration.
When the reset is complete, the display will show “000000” for 1 second. Then the maintenance light will turn OFF.
5. Release the “TRIP” meter reset knob when the reset is complete.

Not on the limited, the HUD tell us "Maintenance Req. Soon"
I assume gas cap.

When this happened in my 4runner I had recently gotten gas. The gas cap appeared tight but I took it off/on again any way. The light stayed on but after the tank went down some it cleared. Do NOT fill tank all the way to top of fill pipe as this will happen frequently. Never filled pipe again and never got engine light again.
Do not fill until it spills out, this can damage a charcoal canister. Very expensive to fix.
You can also cause the light to come on if you l;eave the vehicle running while re-fueling as well.
No matter what it's nothing to panic about. Just drive for about a week if it doesn't go out go to dealer.
If you immediately go to the dealer and get it checked you will probably get charged for a ck eng light resulting from a loose gas cap (not covered under warranty if you left it loose)

I dont care what it is...I would only worry if I didnt have it under warranty. Hence, 100k platinum like I have and also on my TIYOTA Corolla. One engine light can cost you the price of the warranty. I call it peace of mind...

AZN, I do not know if these trucks have them or not but I would assume they do. It has to do with the good ole EPA. I am definitely not a technician though and haven't looked to see if there is one on the trucks.
OK - Isn't there a code or something you can extract from the computer when the check engine light comes on? You know - do something like turn the ignition off and on three times in a row?

Yes, but you need a code scanner plugged into the diag port below the dash.
Well that sucks. In my Ram you can read the code off of the odometer display and then Google the code. Between that and some technical forums you can diagnose all sorts of things. Why make it harder than it needs to be?
