Default Newbie!

What's up everyone,
New member,1st post. You guys have an excellent forum, great info. I've had my 07 DC Limited 4X4 for about 3 months, could not be happier. Traded in 05 Ram 1500 Hemi. Could't wait to say bu-bye to that anchor. The Tundra tows my 31' TT with no probs at all. Loaded weight of trailer is about 8800lbs. That low 1st gear is priceless as well as the other 5. Tranny is always in the right gear. I'm impatiently waiting for Firestone to come out with air bags for the rear. They said they won't be available till August. Also wouldn't mind getting a lightweight 5th wheel but no hitches available for the 07 yet. I was set on CAI and exhaust, but horror stories on TS about losing low end have me freaked. Still have to get some more grumble from the pipe. May settle for just a muffler and stainless tip. Thanks for all the info, keep it coming.

welcome, glad you like your new truck. I'm interested in how your dodge compares to this new tundra...in catagories like:

gas mileage

maintenance

ride quality

overall handling

material quality...interior etc...

No comparison. Before the 05 Ram , I had a 98 1500Ram with the 5.9. I replaced the rear end 2X within the first 65k, had to take off the bed to replace the fuel pump @55k, and could not find a way to make the brakes actually stop the truck, front and rear bumperes along with the bottoms of the doors rusted out after 6 years. Intelligently, I went with another Dodge. The Hemi is a good overall motor, with poor fuel mileage. I averaged 11mpg but most of my miles are city and very hilly in western Pa. The tranny was constantly searching for a gear when towing. Had the truck to the dealership 4X for problem w/ tranny. On cold startup, tranny would slip when put in drive for 4-5 seconds. After BBB threats, Dodge states that that condition is normal.
I did like the ride of the Dodge a little better. I had 285's on it. Even w/ stock tires, it seemed to have a higher ride height. Tundra seems a little low to the ground. The Tundra corners much better which partly is due to the 20's it came with. My fuel mileage with the Tundra is b/w 14 & 15mpg in city. (It was about 12.5 the first few weeks. Couldn't help but keep my right foot on the floorboard.) I have averaged 19mpg on highway. The best I had on the Dodge was 17. My Tundra towing mpg with 8800lb trailer is 10.2mpg. The Hemi was 8.8mpg. The interior of the Tundra is flawless. The materials make you feel like a luxury vehicle compared to Dodge. Parts for the Ram were cheap and readily available.( and you'll need them) So far, can't purchase an oil filter from anyone but Toyota.
