Angry Almost Crashed And My Truck Is BACK At The Dealer

my truck is a 07 Limited DC 5.7L

i was headed to work this morning and i wanted to pass a car so i gassed it and went around him ... another car came in my lane about 3-400 feet in front of me so i had to hit the brakes abs engaged and i was already clear of hitting him .. then i let off the brake and the truck takes off like i had the throttle half way open and i was speeding towards the car in front of me so i slam on the brakes again and the truck is still trying to go forward and the abs system is engaging trying to slow the truck down i had no choice to put the truck in nutral and at that point it went back to normal ... i almost s----- my pants i stopped for a few minutes and calmed down and then headed directly for longo toyota to get it checked out .. the service writer offered me a rental CAR and thats of no use to me when i own a truck so i can tow my boat ... so i declined a rental car because i have 3 extra cars and he told me they would be calling a a field service tech to check the truck because it is a new model and this is a potential dangerous problem

after this happened the brake light and the vsc light and the light withthe pic of the car with 2 lines under it were on .. the vsc light was blinking

sence the truck is already at the dealer they are also going to be changing my engine wire harness, master cylnder and breather hose sence they damaged it by leaving my oil cap off when my truck in for service a week after i bought it if you want to read about that check my sig....

if anyone has had this problem with the 07 tundra 5.7 please PM me

Good job keeping control and avoiding the accident!

Let us know if they figure out what happened, sounds damned scary!

Seems like someone else posted about uncontrolled acceleration. Said it was like the floor mat was pressing it down but they checked and it wasn't.

That happend to me on a 300ZX, I had. I had the sense to put the car in netural and kill the engine. Let's just say I needed a change of underware after that.

Oh crap... I didn't have any uncontrolled accelleration, but I do have the slip light and the vsc light flashing. It will not reset even when restarting the truck. Damn, I have to get her to the dealer....

Something doesn't seem right with Toyota VSC/fly by wire throttle. Mine acts a little screwy sometimes. I held the button down for 3 seconds once to turn off the VSC deal and had been driving fine til I got to a slight hill in the road. Rear end made a single clank noise and reset my VSC. I dunno

Pretty much the same reason mine is getting a new rear diff. Something mechanical got hung under acceleration and was promptly ground into shavings.Dropping the plug revealed shavings and cooked oil
Dealer wont know anything till the replacement arrives
and the R/R allows for internal inspection of the unit.

Wow. Good save. I had that happen in an old jeep in heavy traffic, but it was the floor mat that pinned the accelerator..Scary to say the least.

There seems to be several teething issues with this new Tundra, I hope this doesn't turn out to be something more wide spread because it put's lives in danger... The last thing Toyota needs is the press to pick up on a possible NTSB investigation because this type of issue will get to that point real quick... It happened with the Ford 6.0 diesel 3 or 4 years ago, but it was for a dead pedal, which can be equally as dangerous when towing or in an intersection. Good luck, I hope it's nothing major.

Sounds like some serious interference issues in the harness there. Hope they'll isolate this problem, and hope its only your truck thats affected, otherwise they'll have to issue another TSB.

Sanosuke!

The harness was not faulty from the factory,it was damaged afterward.

Killing the engine was a big mistake if you still had momentum but had already gotten it into neutral. But hey you are alive and well, so everything worked out.
