Default Just Got Line-X Done . . . Tons o' Pics . . .

Ok, so I just got back from Line-X of Huntington Beach. The owner, Marcel is a great guy to deal with. Very professional and they did a great job. Less than 2hrs start to finish. Entire vehicle was masked off, all bolts and tiedown loops removed, holes plugged, etc. I called around to several Line-X places in OC, and Marcel was the only one that did not give me the usual saleman BS. Most places would quote me some price like $440 for under the rail Line-X'ing but if I bring it in today then they will give me X% off, blah, blah, blah.

Marcel was like: "Listen, our price is $399 plus sales tax on material only and your total price is $410.XX." No BS, which is refreshing.

So enjoy the pics. I took off the Line-X emblem/warranty and kept it in a safe place. I like the clean look of not having it affixed to the bed anyways. My Tundra is Slate and the line-X is just regular black, however because the Slate is dark in some lighting you can't tell the difference.

This is between the cab and the bed and they did a really good job here:

Like alot of folks, once the Line-X was applied, the gap in between the tailgate and the bed decreases and the rubber bump stops make closing the bed a little more difficult and there is alot of tension on the latch. I removed the round rubber stops and instead cut small squares out of a foam adhesive pad that looks like it has the same Line-X texture. Believe it or not, I bought a whole sheet of it at the local 99 cents store. It should also be available at the local Walmart or Home Depot. It provides just enough tension but not super tight like the OEM rubber ones.

I also got tired of my antenna whipping around at high speeds so took a pair of wire cutters and chopped off the end. The antenna is exactly 12 inches in length from base to tip now. Applied some loc-tite to the threads and hand tightened, super secure now. Surprizingly, no loss of reception in so cali. Probably if I go out to the desert, I will lose some station, but who cares, that's what the ipod is for right? I capped it off with a Wilson antenna ball I had from back in the day when the movie Castaway was released on DVD at Blockbuster. It was only $2 back then but I guess people are trying to sell these on ebay for like $40! What a rip.

Some more shots of the Tundra:

Great looking truck. They did a good job for you and at a very nice price. I looked at having it done but they wanted $500! That did not include tax.

They're off a side street near Beach and Edinger. You can get the exact address of the Line-X website. They are the only ones in Huntington Beach.

nice truck. sweet. I love the slate, but couldnt pull the trigger on it. I went silver, did the same thing in 1991. Loved the charcoal grey, but went silver.
Anway, nice linex job. The installer is key, looks like you had a good one.
One question, did you miss when installing the antenna after you cut it? What is that scratch right near it?
Again, sweet truck!

I think that's the reflection of the antenna in that beautiful slate paint.

Well, I hope so, but think not. A black antenna should not reflect what looks like a thin jagged scratch. It may cast a shadow, but not relect a "silverish" looking line.
That wouldnt show on my silver, ha.
Hope it is something other than a scratch, they suck............

Yeah not a scratch. It is the reflection of the antenna on the finish. The sun was facing me when I took the photo. You can tell that the reflection follows the antenna and changes color once the undulation from the body crease changes there. Just to satisfy you I took another photo of the area to show, no scratch.

Without flash, you see the dark reflection of the antenna:

With flash, you see the white reflection of the antenna (plus some slate metallic flake):

The going rate is about $400 in so cali. I don't know what it is up north, but it does not hurt to call around to all the different Line-X places.

I got mine done last week in the SF bay Area - shopped 4 places .... all within $20 of each other ........ Only difference I found was that some charged higher sales tax than others. I paid $480 including tax etc.

Nice to see some fellow huntington beach members. I didn't know they built RC/SB trucks with the 5.7 down here. All I saw on the build site (a while ago) was RC/LB with the 5.7.
