I use one of these key lockers to keep a spare key on the outside of the truck. Am I the only one who is paranoid about locking themselves out? I don't do it very often but it royally sucks when I do. The worst case scenario is that I'm taking a nap in the middle of the night at a highway rest stop while on a road trip. I feel safest when the key is in the ignition just in case I need to get away from something. Also, I might be using the radio or something. Anyway, I wake up and find I have to take a pee so I hop out of the truck and the door closes. DOH!!! 2am in the middle of nowhere.
It's also real interesting to lose your keys down the drain at a water park. You file a report and get your keys about 3 months later when they shut the park down for the winter.
Anyway, this little $40 metal combo safe is screwed in somewhere to the body of your truck. It's super thick. I think you could run over it with your truck and it wouldn't open. The only problem is that the new Tundra key is way too big to get in there. I even tried to put the fob in there and that's too thick, also. What I ended up doing is prying open the fob, pulling the circuit board out, putting that in a little ziploc bag and sticking it in there. At least it will allow me to unlock the truck in a bind. Then, I have the actual key in my Console Vault.
There is also a neat little combo trailer hitch drawer that would work, however, it's about $60. And, you wouldn't be able to use it during some of the times you are most likely to lose your keys - camping and boating.
