Wanted to let you know the outcome of my transmission exp, as I stated before a new trams. was auth. by Toy tech support, trans. was installed yesterday and finished today , tech called me said trams. does same thing wash board effect and on top of that the trams sent was a rebuilt one he said he had no idea how this happen as this is a new trams. He called Toy tech to see what they wanted to do now I think this is unaccaptable in a new truck with 500 miles , what do you think.

When they replaced my transmission and it was at 500 miles too. Toyota shipped in a new transmission to Atlanta Toyota and I kept a copy of the warranty invoice to prove it.
If you got a .. "rebuilt transmission" .. I would think that the dealer would have to show that on the paperwork stating that it was "rebuilt" ?????
When you picked up the Tundra from the service dept .. did they give you warranty paperwork to sign and a copy for your records ???
My dealer was fantastic .. took my Tundra in Thursday AM, gave me a rental car of my choice, and my Tundra was ready that next Monday PM and I picked it up on Tuesday AM.
Then they shipped the defective transmission to CA for inspection.
SOS
PS .. When I asked if my replacement tranny would be new or rebuilt ???
I was told by the dealer that it would be a new one and there were no rebuilt trannys on the market.
I did NOT want a rebuilt anything on my new Tundra.
Maybe your tech was mistaken ??
I just can't believe that Toyota would do that .. especially on a new vehicle with 500 miles on it.
I already hava a case established, tech said trams. was rebuilt I dont know how he knowes just what he said, but the problem is still there which leeds me to believe it wasnt tranny problem but maby a computer or something else anyway he called tech support again and they havent called back yet , new tranny is worse than old one, really vibrates between 30 and 40 mph.
No I suspect not. What I will agree on is that one or two people out of the tens of thousands that visit this forum have had some sort of transmission issue. The remaining posts in this thread are just either nonsense or some off the cuff comments unrelated to the thread. PLEASE don't make me enforce thread subjects.

You have no idea how many trannies have gone out. You are just guessing like the rest of us. Why don't you call Toyota and ask them? Because they are guessing too. They still haven't publicly addressed this problem like the camshaft mishap. They are in the "head scratching" phase of this, and hopefully they will shed some light soon, so we can all take a deep breath and keep enjoying our trucks.
