I have just over 800 miles on mine and it has perfomed very well. I do get a hickup once in a while but I think I cause it with my right foot My opinion is if this was a real problem it would have made the headlines by now don't you all think. I know that not all vehicles are created equal and sometimes you just get a bad one. You have to understand that this whole Tundra platform has not been really proven other than by the TMC "officials". So far I have been very happy with my truck except when I get to the pump but hey that just means more fun down the road. I really hope the ones with tranny problems get the problem solved and back to enjoying their trucks!!

Ironically, I traded in a Dmax 3/4 ton Silverado that never had a problem. I was looking for a less expensive truck (Payment), that could still tow my trailer. Toyota fit the bill. Even though I have gone through a tranny, the rest of the truck has been great (except for the mileage), but what do you expect? My Dmax got pretty much the same mileage too 14-15mpg.

Got home from wall-mart had a recording on phone, service writer said a NEW trams. had been ordered for my truck, third trams. in new truck with less than 600 miles.
If no "proper response" ... I will put this sucker on a flatbed trailer .. place (legal & well worded) magnetic stickers ALL over it and tow it around Atlanta with with my Nissan Titan.
.
Dude, thats funny.
I swear when the truck was brand new I felt some weird rumble stuff going on between the 1-2 shift that went away after about 500 miles and I know what stuff "feels" weird (i'm also a mech eng). Besides that, I've not had any problems besides a misaligned bed and worn out rear tires .

I just bought my 2007 Tundra in June and I have logged 1600 miles with not one tranny problem. This is the best Truck I have ever had! Pulling the boat to the lake this weekend.

Either you're beating the transmission before it is broken in or toyota isn't swift. I'm thinking you have to be boardering on some kind of lemon law at this point. I think something else is causing the transmission to go out. For the majority to have no transmission problems and for you to have 3 go out that is more than badluck. I think they're missing some other issue with the truck.

Only 2 trannys bad so far the next one which was ordered sat. will be the third tranny in my truck with under 600 miles on the odem., I am like you I dont see how I could get 2 trannys that did the same thing , I thought maby it was a comp. prob. ,anyway tranny should be here this week and installed , I will post on here the outcome if this new tranny acts up I will def. start a lemon law case.
A question about this new 6 speed auto transmission, does it have a means of checking the transmission fluid or is like most new transmissions and have no dipstick? I know the FJs are like that.
If that's the case, could they not be filling the transmissions properly at the factory? Nissan had issues with their Titan differentials not being properly filled. Nissan was really proactive on correcting their problem.
If I was Toyota I would insist that a new trans cooler and lines and trans computer be installed with the new 3rd transmission, all under the supervision of a factory rep (there could be a wiring harness issue)
Sounds like a "perfect storm" scenario to me, till all ancillary systems that the trans depends on are ruled out as failure contributers, it makes no sense to install a 3rd trans unless one is a 100% sure of the root cause.
I wonder if just the obvious symptons are only being treated i.e. burned slipping clutch disks leads to the easy conclusion tran is defective.
In just one example among many; it could be the controller that cuts pressure at the shift points (along with engine power) in order smooth out shifts with the abnormally high friction clutches used in this design is shorted and not putting the trans back into the proper clutch pressure profile.
I agree with bertram, no way no how can this simply be a case of really bad luck on your part. There are just too few with problems for the stars to line up in a way that you get two "bad" tranmissions installed in the same truck. I don't know the answer but something else is going on. I am dissappointed that Toyota has not flown in a regional tech to go over the whole truck on you guys with multiple or heck even one failure. Best of luck.
I agree too. When my tranny went, I thought maybe something else was screwy, but Toyota insisted on replacing the entire tranny. I still haven't heard what the culprit was. Why would a new tranny go out, unless it was assembled incorrectly?

Talked to tech monday he said tranny should be in and installed this week , I will post here the results, I agree with some of you that it is highly unlikely that 2 trannys does the exact same thing , if third tranny does the same I know it is some other problem, will keep you posted.
