Bigdave no I have never towed anything , broke in motor as book says, I guess I am just lucky, I am at the point where I dont know if I want to keep this truck or not, it has been one thing after another, headliner has been replaced because wrong DVD was ordered and hole cut wrong, dealer has been good but I feel my truck has been a g, pig, you know changing tranny in 07 truck requires taking starter , passenger side exaust manifold off , this will be third tranny how is taking all this stuff off and on going to effect it down the road.
Sorry you are having so many problems with the trans.
I just got out of an RX8 which was a big piece of shiot, that's why I bought the Tundra. Sure hope it doesn't start happening to the 4.7.
Hopefully they find out the problem and correct it.
Talked to dealer yesterday, they called Gulf States Toyota and said new tranny will be in no later than friday, so I guess it will be next week before installed, also there are rebuilt trannys out Toyota eng. said rebuilt tranny was not suppose to be sent for my truck, makes you wonder bigdave I might have your old tranny, will keep you posted next week.

Well if they didn't replace the manifold gasket you'll get an exhaust leak down the road or immediately.
If I was Toyota I would insist that a new trans cooler and lines and trans computer be installed with the new 3rd transmission, all under the supervision of a factory rep (there could be a wiring harness issue)
Sounds like a "perfect storm" scenario to me, till all ancillary systems that the trans depends on are ruled out as failure contributers, it makes no sense to install a 3rd trans unless one is a 100% sure of the root cause.
I wonder if just the obvious symptons are only being treated i.e. burned slipping clutch disks leads to the easy conclusion tran is defective.
In just one example among many; it could be the controller that cuts pressure at the shift points (along with engine power) in order smooth out shifts with the abnormally high friction clutches used in this design is shorted and not putting the trans back into the proper clutch pressure profile.
Yeah I'd define those mechanics or that shop as foolish. The transmission isn't the problem. It's the end result.
Spoke to Toyota yesterday, they offered to make a payment for me, but no platinum warranty like the guys who went through camshafts. something is better than nothing.

Yea I am going to address the gasket issue with them next week, seem like the gasket that came off was copper. Tranny is suppose to be in today, probably installed mon. or tuesday I have got a couple other issues I turning in like a bump or slack noise every time I take off or brake and let off brake, bigdave I didnt see any bubble gum so I guess its not your old tranny, you know they are rebuilding trannys I wander at what point of warranty one will be used or they suppose to be holding them for out of warranty, they said mine was sent by mistake I would have never known if it hadnt been defective also makes you wonder if it was planned from begenning or they just got caught.
You will probably never know if the new tranny is rebuilt or new. But, in the end, I hope they get you back on the road. You should call TMCA and request they make a car payment for you and also see if they will kick down a platinum warranty for all your troubles. They owe you this.

Went to dealer this morning tranny is in , a big wooden crate from factory not like the plastic guitar case the other tranny came in, also tech ordered new gasket for exaust manifold, will be installed monday. I will make a call to TMAC after everything is done , also tech said greasing drive shaft will keep clunk noise down he will do this also, I will let you know the outcome next week if my tranny problem was solved, I am thinking about a lift similer to yours bigdave will talk after my truck is well.
Your Tundra should be Gold. A lot of us have 3" lifts which really make the truck stand out. I can't stand the way the nose always sits down on trucks. Hopefully TMCA will take care of you.

Whoa,
take a xanax dude, I am not a Ford hater, my point is, they should have put me in a nice loaner car, not some bare-bone basic Taurus that is really a crappy car to drive, and is hard to get in and out of (I'm 6'3"). A nicely equipped tundra or Camry would have been nice. I have owned chevys and Fords with hardly any complaints. I am not committed to Toyota, especially now that their truck left me hanging. I can't speak for the other toyota owners, but I'm not hater of any brand.
WHY are you being so immature and angry about an inane rental car? As long as it runs and does what you need it to do (have a bed if its a truck) why be upset as to what damn brand it is? I've had rentals for when I had my S-10 in the shop, and when I've had my Ridgeline in the shop. The rentals for the S-10 repairs were Neons while I had a BASE and crappy Saturn Ion for a rental when I had my new Ridgeline in for three days. The S-10 went through valve assemblies at 3000 mile intervals on the spot. The third one they put in was perfectly timed as not too much later afterwards I sold it and got my Tundra.
Honestly, even though I LOVE to bash on the domestics I don't give a flying poop what they put me for a rental in as long as they get me a rental quickly and it can get me back and forth to work and around town.
For me, all I want in a service department is good to excellent customer service and competent repair and body (where applicable) work. What pisses me off more then getting a "non-Toyota" rental is trying to get them to give me a rental or SOMETHING so I don't have to wait while they "fix it." Or, even worse, having to go back for the SAME issue continuously like I had with my S-10's transmission.
Dude, ease up and calm the hell down.
