My new tranny is due at the dealer today. In the mean time I called the Toyota national customer service line and reported my experience. It was odd that the person I spoke to offered the option for Toyota to buy back my truck. Yes... really....
I responded saying the dealer had done it's level best to make me happy so wasn't going to complain on them. However after two tranny replacements I have lost confidence in the long term reliability of my truck. Really stinks because I haven't been able to find another new one like mine available anywhere in the Southeast Region. Likely, due to the fact that 08 models are due in next month. If they will buy it back I may go back to my 2001 Tundra until the 08's are discounted.
Still debating the issue in my mind.... bottom line is I will wait and see how this next replacement works out. Leaning heavy on the buy back at this point.

reading your complaints Im glad I didnt jump on the Gun like I did on my new 2000 Tundra which also spent a lot of time in the service bay on brakes. Sadly I hear your pain all too well and it's not worth the risk wasting my Time at the stealerships to get's thing's address. I am glad Toyota has helped you too this is prime reason why I have stuck with the TUndra in the first place.
Good luck
Erik
Dude your BS is so old I almost care not to even respond to you. Get a life and go hang out on a GM forum as its clear thats what you own and love and they are soooo trouble free! I am not even going to get into my opinion of the quality of GM's, Fords, or Dodges again, it will take this thread way off course which is what you desire and seek in almost every thread you turn into combat with a Tundra owner. GET A LIFE!!!!!!!! I'd be willing to bet my paycheck that my local GM dealer has had more 2007 1/2 ton's towed in than Toyota has had 07 Tundras....Seriously....MY PAYCHECK vs yours!
Well since I guarantee that I make three times what you do, it would me a small price to wager to prove you wrong. And we're talking about tranny failures here, I guarantee you there have been no GM's towed in because of tranny failure. Go ask all your friends at the GM dealer too, and se what they say. You really want to talk about warranty claims on an 07 silverado/sierra vs. the 07 Tundra. That one you will lose for sure. Comparable number of units sold of course, since GM has out sold the tundra of let's say 4:1.
That MUST make you head of customer service for GM North America then?
Cos if not then there is NO WAY you will get exact figures for GM truck failures!

You are right sir, there is no way to tell those numbers. I have said in every post that the new tundra is a very good truck. It's had a few problems, but I do believe toyota will get them figured out, and you guys will have a solid truck to make even better. I'm glad you do because it makes all the other truck makers take notice and get the vehicles up to snuff. But what I get tired of hearing is the same old characters bashing the big3, not just in a thread or two, but in the majority of there threads. It's child like almost, like my dad can beat up your dad. I can only speak for GM, since I own one, they get it. There quality has risen so dramatically because of the competition in the truck market. IMO they make the best truck out there right now, but the others are good trucks too. Go on gm-trucks.com and try to find threads were people brought there truck in for real problems. Not just the "my dash has a ratlle" crap. Very few people from what I can tell are have warranty claims.
Then I am happy for you, truly.
But you should'nt expect to come to a Tundra forum and not get bashed/ruffle feathers.
I buy what I like and I AM 'gunshy' of the big 3 as ones I have had fall short of my expectation of quality control. I should not have a finger size gap on one side of dash and not other of a 100th Anniversary Harley truck for instance.
Being brought up in UK with parents owning a Dealership before I was born I learnt ALOT. My dad eventually dropped the dealership (due to funky stock he was being made to take) and started selling low mileage Datsuns and Toyotas. These vehicles were the most reliable and well built and never gave us issues. And if a problem did arise the manufacturer always stepped up.
I believe the ethos of the Domestic manufacturer has to come up to that of the Foreign before drastic change is made. They may have started but IMHO they are still WAY off.
I also understand 'brand loyalt' and 'patriotism' (although the latter is somewhat moot due to where/how the Tundra is built), but when I am spending this much money I want the best bang for my $.
I really think maybe alot of the issues are with the ECU/Computer. But if they are, Toyota is going all out to fix it and satisfy their csutomers, which is commendable indeed!

I learned long ago that any one who claims to make $X times more money than someone else; in reality makes $X times less than that person. If you have stand on your pay cheque to boost yourself up, you my friend are not much of a man.
Furthermore, take your guarantees somewhere else... this is a brand new platform, which obvioulsy has bugs... whose brand new platform wouldn't?
My new 07 tundra 5.7 just ate the transmission with less than 5000 miles on the vehicle. My truck is sitting at the dealer, while Toyota scratches its head. Anyone else hear of this or experience this? I didn't abuse or offroad my vehicle. It just happened while I was driving on the freeway without warning. The tranny started shifting all over the place, all the dash lights started going off like wildfire, and then I couldn't get it out of 4th. Toyota has now told me the tranny is bad and needs to be replaced. the trannys are backordered and they want to see my tranny to see what the deal is. they also said I am the sixth 5.7 this has happened to in June.
This is the first post from this thread. 384 posts later, this thread went no where but south. How GM/Ford/any other auto manufacturer's name popped up in this thread, I don't know, nor do I really have any interest in reading through the whole entire thread of clutter, just to find the culprit. It was supposed to be a thread related to a user's TUNDRA transmission failing.
This has gone on long enough, much longer than it should have. If everyone could stay on topic, quit insulting each other, and/or bragging about how much money they make, this would be much easier. Thread closed.
