Toyota dealers don't give you Fords to drive while your Toyota is being fixed.
Better watch it. I called a troll a liar and mods gave me a warning!
Paulmerrit,
Toyota didn't even offer me a loaner Toyota. They sent me to Hertz, where I got stuck with a Taurus. Why are you so down on people with real problems. Check me on my BS. I will give you the name and number of the gentleman who has been talking to me from TMCA. It sounds like you are about 16, so I understand your ignorance.
grassy13,
Whoa, just because I am posting about my tranny going out, doesn't make me a domestic basher. I have read the posts you are referring to, but don't make uneducated statements like "all you guys out there". I have always liked domestics and some foreign makes. The new Tundra was a great truck until it dumped on me. I have had a Ford dump on me too. Get your facts straight.
Its not like im coming after you specifically, im just making a generalization. sry if you took offense, but it just amazes me how many of the ppl in this forum talk about unreliability with domestics when stuff like this happens to everybody including the toyotas. theyre all good trucks i just hate seein domestic bashing
It would be nice if Toyota gave their dealers better communication. I still haven't heard why my tranny failed. I still don't have a new tranny either. The dealer still hasn't offered a loaner truck. I am still in a rental Taurus which is killing my back. God is punishing me for something I must have done in high school. I am beyond frustrated.
Talk to Al Dalentash at TO... hes the better sales manager to work with... Who was your sales rep by the way?

On this forum we have a set of rules and we do not ban a member just for discussing a problem with their vehicle or offering a difference of opinion. Please see the TundraSolutions.com FAQ

Try disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. Reconnect it and drive the truck to see if it still does that. If it still do, drive the truck hard. Accelerate hard to get the computer to wake up and do some calculations. Put the tranny in S mode and manually upshift at 2500 rpm's. Also, used S mode to deccelerate the truck at around 2500 rpm or so. Do this a few times altenating from S mode to D mode. Waste of gas?? Maybe but its worth a try. Did I do this on my truck? YEs I did and still doing it. I would drive on the freeway for 8 miles in 5th gear at 70 to 80 mph just to get the rpm's up once in a while. I mostly drive with S mode so I can use the tranny to deccelerate the truck.

I haven't even heard from my sales rep, PJ, but the service guys name is Jim. TMCA has instructed me not to call the dealer at this point and only deal with TMCA. Man, this dealer really gave me the sales speech to buy the truck, now all I hear from them is "crickets".(Nada) But that is usually how it works. Service should really be gauged after the sale!!

Thanks for the heads up. You are right about Jim. It's like talking to a rock with him; No sympathy or help from him whatsoever. That dealer will never see my business again, assuming Toyota makes my situation right and I buy another Toyota. Time will Tell.

Just joined but was reading this thread while waiting for my activation email.
I've got an '06 Tacoma and love it except for the towing capacity...want more.
My wife and I were going to go down to the local dealer and see about trading in the Tacoma for an '07 2WD Tundra TRD but to be honest with you this thread is scaring the crap outa me.
Is the tranny problem with just the 4WD or is it effecting both 2WD & 4WD?

Don't let this thread scare you away. If you are serious about trading I would use this thread in your favor. Print it out and take it to your salesman after you negotiate a price and see if you can get an extended warranty for cheap. Tell him you need piece of mind that the tranny will be covered in case it fails. Worth a try.

I wish there was a way to document and authenticate all the claims being made about Tundra issues. I'm not disputing that some haven't had any issues, but I strongly suspect that there may be others just stirring the pot here. One online article made a comment something like, "Tundra hate is alive an well on the internet", and there have been alot of negative or polarizing comments, for what many like myself have found to be, just a damn nice truck. I go on snowmobile and motorcycle forums too, and theres a reason mfgs have to keep forums like this and others at arms length. They know first hand how many problems there are by what the dealers are reporting. Whether it jives with what the internet is saying, we can only guess. None of us have a clue what the real % of failures vs trucks sold are, or whether they fall under normal rates for any other vehicle. Right now, the Tundra has a huge bulls eye on its hood, all the buy American crowd loves to dog it, right or wrong. I'm guessing that there aren't nearly as many transmission issues as this thread might lead some to believe.
