I don't think your dealer pulled a fast one. Toyota treats the spares as "spares" ie: temp. use. You will also find that unless you have the base truck with it's 70 series tires the spare will be a different size ( 70 series). I just went through this my truck had Micheliens and the spare was a Bridgestone. If you need the same spare (brand wise) talk to your dealer. They seem to come with many different tires.
Had to replace a front tire already and noticed my spare was a smaller size also. I have Michelin's on the ground. Can't remember what brand the spare was though. But I'm not too worried. It's a spare, and at least it's not a donut. Ha ha imagine a donut on our trucks!
are the rims the same on the spare.... or is it a plain steel rim??

I'm surprised... all of my previous Toyota's with an upgraded alloy wheel had a matching 5th

Same here, TRD got me the BFGoodrich's on the ground. Spare is a Michelin. I didn't notice if the spare was the same size as the tires on the ground.
I did notice it was a different size also, but the profile is different and the spare measures the same diameter as the trucks tires, which is what really matters for a spare tire.

It's strange to me that there are so many different tire configurations. I was expecting to have Michelins but my truck came with Bridgestones and there is even Michelin paperwork in the glove box.
I haven't looked at the spare yet, but I should probably do that, with my luck it won't be there!
It really doesn't matter to me that the spare is a non-matching tire because if i have to put it on it's only for a short time until i can either repair or replace the damaged one. Anytime I have to replace a tire I do so in pairs of two. The one and only time I didn't do this was on my '00 Tundra, and the ride on the unmatched front tires was noticeable especially on rain slicked roads. I did get 24000 miles on a set of Michelins on that truck- i am very curious to see if its '07 bigger brother can match that on the stock TRD BFGoodies it came with.
