This is a discussion thread titled "07 Tundra front receiver hitch", within the Tundra forum, part of the Truck Forums category.
And that was on an 07 Tundra? Is it Class IV/V? I'm needing it for a winch and want to make sure I have sufficient strength to yank it out of the mud. Not familiar with Leonard. Is that a store name or a brand of hitch?
Thanks for the reply.
Mark

I also have the Curt hitch. Super easy install. I got my Surf Mate Rod Rack today. I will assemble and install tomorrow to see how it looks. I am going to the Outer Banks next month.
Leonard is a store that sells truck accessories. Mine is maybe a class III, it only needs to hold a few hundred pounds at most. Not sure how beefy you can go on the front. Looks like the Curt hitch should work, rated at 9,000 lb.
I don't have any pictures but it does get in the way a little when removing the skid plate. What I do is remove the bolt from one side and loosen the bolt on the other side (this is on the hitch receiver). Than I just swing it out toward the front of the truck. That gives me access to the front skid plate screws. It is not a big deal, maybe 5 minutes all told. If you had a Class IV or V it might be a bigger pain depending on how it is attached.
I have a Curt Mfg. front receiver hitch on my 07 Tundra. I took it in to the dealership for the first oil change yesterday. The technician removed the receiver hitch to do the oil change. I talked to his supervisor who stated that the receiver will have to be removed for every oil change. I guess that is the price of having too many toys.

Time to loom at the skid plat and see if there is a way to trim it to simplify things..
