My new Crewmax has 6200 miles on it, and I had it in the garage yesterday and after pulling it out, there was a few drops of red oily looking stuff on the floor. It was pouring down rain, so I waited until today to have a look. I climbed underneath and found that it must be leaking right where the driveshaft connects, and the spinning action of the shaft has thrown it all over the area around the shaft. I can't see a dripping leak, but it's all over underneath.
Anyone else noticed this? I also noticed there is no dripstick for the transmission. I guess I'll have to take it in for alittle work.

Temp wise it's right where it's alway been. The leaking part is what scares me. The drive shaft slings it all over the two exaust pipes that are on either side of it. I'd hate to catch my baby on fire.

If it's leaking where the drive shaft is it's not the transmission it's the transfer case. Souds like the seal is bad on the yoke. The dealer should replace the seal.
yeah sounds like the transmission rear tailhousing seal ... easy fix i wouldnt worry too much about it .. just ask them to clean the area ofter they fix the leak

I say take it to the dealer they've got this coming. Serves them right for this tranny design. I'd tell them it's leaking they need to fix it since it is sealed and you can't add tranny fluid.
To me, it looks really like its coming from the yoke, is there fluid in there?
There is no fluid in the yoke unless it's grease from the U-joint, but it sounds like the transmission output seal is bad to me.
If the u-joint has had to much grease pumped in it the drive shaft will fling it everywhere and there isn't anything to worry about. You should be able to tell the difference between grease and ATF however. Don't forget they make red grease too among many other colors.
i also have noticed a little trans leak on mine as well Coming from the seal at the tailhousing just like you have. Have you took it in yet ? what did they say? Any info would be appreciated
I don't remember the exact name of the part, but it was something like the driveshaft crank seal or something like that. They had to order it and it's on backorder. I guess it's going to be about 10 days until it comes in. They gave me my truck back and said it was fine to drive until the part comes in.

You see this is where a dip stick would go a long way for confidence that it's still OK to drive.
You know you got a small leak and your on a trip but heading home. The dip stick says just a bit low so you can drive the family home without wondering if you should take it to a strange dealer if you can find one. Without the dip stick you have no idea if you have enough tranny fluid in the tranny so you spend a whole day on vacation with the family at a strange dealership hoping they can take care of you ASAP. Good Grief ! ! !
