Re: Motoring 2007 - 2007 Toyota Tundra Long Term Test Update #2
I noticed the front bumper on their test truck is the same color as the truck, yet that's a longbed truck and I thought the colored matched bumper option was only available on the Limiteds, and the longbeds aren't available in Limiteds. Anybody else pick up on that, or am I not making any sense?
Nevertheless, it sure looks great with a color-keyed front bumber. I wish most all of the chrome goodies were available as painted color-matched.

I'll give them my long term Tundra report. I have put 7632 miles on my truck since the end of April 2007. I towed a travel trailer weighing 6000lbs a total 3253 miles in 12 days and my double cab has performed flawlessly so far. I am now getting 17 mpg on the highway and the truck rides better than expected.

The base 2WD trucks (work truck??) all have painted bumpers.

Gotta' love Toyota...they find the problem and fix it faster than any other manufacturer PERIOD.
In this area most dealers sell the form fit deflector which is leaps and bounds better than the factory toyota one. They cost about 80 bucks.

That one on the Motoring video, looks exactly like my Form Fit (look in my photo album). I can see how the center of it might fall off if installed a little bit wrong. I wonder if there has been a recall on the Form Fit too? I am calling the parts dept now...

I just watched the clip again and agree - that is the form fit deflector! I called the dealer out here to ask whether they've had this problem with any of their Tundras. They said there was no known issue with them, so maybe this was an isolated case - who knows.
I've had form fit bug guards on many other vehicles and have never had a problem so far.

Mine feels like it could do what their is doing, but I have just under 8000 miles on it and the form fit is still firmly attached. I don't think I will be taking it off very often to wash and wax under it.
