All right, here's the deal. I keep seeing posts with people who can't get the dealership to disable the seatbelt chimes. Here's the real fix, go to the dealership, find a mechanic and ask him if he wants to make a few extra bucks. I paid a guy $40.00 to come over to my work after he got off and hook up his techstream. He disabled both the driver & passenger chimes and enabled the Glass break sensor so it works when I install it. Also have him check that all the Alarm options are enabled.
My dealer turned off the seatbelt chimes for both front seats. Required hooking up their computer to the truck. Still get a flashing dash light when someone sits in the front passenger seat w/o hooking up. Don't have to listen to that horrendous chime though.
I wouldn't recommend messing with the seat belt mechanism as they are tied into your air bag system.
Because Scientist say over 20 seconds of consistant dinging can make you retarded. I dont wanna chance that.
For the life of me i can get my passanger airbag light to come back on no matter what. I have tried the tape thing and that doesnt work.
I'm having the same problem. The tape does not seem to be working. I haven't invested more than a few minutes to really try it over again yet though.

Frontier toyota in Valencia (So Cal) will disable the passenger side chime. Had mine done the other day. No charge as I was having other work done at the time. Had to convince the writer that it could be done and he said he would write it up and let the tech advise. Tech said 2007/2008 Tundra was the first vehicle to have the option of the computer turning this off. Took no time at all.
I just bought the clip off of the actual seat belt. When I do not want to wear my belt I simply put the clip in and away I go. No problems with anything and nothing to change back. When I am finished I take out the clip put it away and put my seatbelt back on. Simple, simple, simple!!!!!!!!
I have tried this mod for the last couple of days and it disables the passenger air bag. I am pretty good at wiring and electronics and the instructions are fantastic. Doing a little experimentation while the switch was out, it appears that my Tundra needs a "seatbelt off", "seatbelt on" signal each time or it will disable the air bag.
It was great while it while it lasted. I am going to put a bullet hole through the dash if I can't find some way to disable that alarm !
I tried what you said exactly and it did not work the passanger air bag was disabled even after i placed the tape. It's not worth the risk of harming my passenger chancing the air bag not deploying. There has got to be a way to fool the computer w/o disabling the air bag. anyone got any more info

Take it to your dealer and ask them to turn off the chime.
