Default Seat Belt Chime fix

I did the seat belt chime fix posted here. Removed the spring and taped the slider.

This seems to work for a little while and then stops working for some reason. The chime stays disabled but the airbag light will not come on when there is a passenger.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

Default Re: Seat Belt Chime fix

I played with this today and thought I would post the results here. What makes this thing work is a small magnet at the end of the slider. If you remove the slider completely, the passenger air bag works fine. It turns on when there is a passeneger in the seat and turns off where there is not. However, the passeneger seat belt warning light will flash continuously.

What I found is there is a point on the slider where the magnet turns off the seat belt light but allows the air bag to work properly. I cut the magnet out of the slider and used a little tape to secure it in the mechansism. Everything is working fine now and no more annoying seat belt chimes.

Default So, I tried the Seatbelt chime disable off the DYI thread....

Problem is the airbag just won't turn on, so I had to put the spring back in until I figure it out.... I believe the problem is placement of the tape. Also, in the picutures provided I don't see a black casing around the sensors that mine seem to have....
Can some one clarify, is the tape suppose to go in the center track to keep the moving piece down or somewhere else???

Thanks.

Seriously, why mess with it? Ask your dealer to turn it off for you next time you are in for service. It will take them 30 seconds to turn it off.

Asked my local dealer when it was in for service on Monday, they wouldn't do it... Suppose I can call the dealer where I buy my trucks and see if they will, problem being it's 94 miles away...

The dealer should do this for you, ask to talk to the manager, tell him it's an option that CAN be disabled. If you want to print a copy of the optinos that can be adjusted by their handheld computer, print a copy from this site. (it's been posted about 6 times in different threads)

If they still won't, go to another dealer and never go back to the other one.

It's not listed, but yes, they can shut off the driver's side as well...

Only on some of them. I found some that we can not do the drivers side. I don't know how to tell which one can or can't be done. I had to take the drivers spring out on my personal truck and a few others that I could not change. All of the passengers sides can be customized.

On my 2008 Tundra Grade DC, the passenger side seat belt chime could not be found in the section shown in the PDF - and we looked twice. Just saying...
