New truck, bought new air freshner that clips onto vent. A month later I started to notice the grey paint was coming off. New plastic from dealer $409. No touch up paint available. I have never had this problem w/ any other vehicle. Any suggestions?
I have to say this here - the plastic interior of the Tundra is horrible. I have never felt so much cheap plastic since I have been in the Ford F150. Toyotas are known for their nice fit and finish, and quality interiors. Toyota cheaped out on the Tundra. The hard plastic has got to go!!! Give us at least as good as the Corolla, please Toyota......

I am disappointed as well. Looked great when I first bought the truck, but the corners cut are more and more evident each day. Still a great vehicle, IMO.
I have to agree. I love my Tundra and feel its a great buy, especially for the long haul, but I am pretty PO'd about the plastic interior. When I was looking to buy, I wasnt all that impressed with the looks of the dash, but not that big of deal - never even thought twice that I would need to worry about scratches - I guess because I have had tons of vehicles and never once experienced this, so it didnt enter into my head to do a scratch test LOL.
But I have had mine for less than a month and the scuff boards (lower inside of door) are already pitiful. I was taking groceries out of the back seat tonight and lightly brushed a bag against lower inside of door and was amazed to see I now had a 5" scratch from it. Along with several others!!!! From what I have read on the boards, this is common for the dash also - and the scratches don't come out!!! I am pretty PO'd about it. I mean REALLY - what in the hell were they thinking!!!!
I am worried that the chrome colored crap is going to be just as vunerable. I have thought about some type of treatment, but from other posts it sounds like you have to be real careful because some things will actually rub the paint right off and discolor!!!!
Sorry to come off so bitchy, but this one really bothers me. A 33k TRUCK that I have to be super consious about touching the interior or it will scratch. And scratches that dont rub off. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

I have tan seats and carpet, but the dark dash and door panels. The carpet is so light, I take off my work boots, and change clothes before I go home every day. I am scared to get something greasy on it, and not get it out. The lowers on the doors scratch badly, but no more so than the F-150 did. Wifes Grand Cherokee is just as bad. I think I will try to find a carpet to match the door panels, and wrap the lower parts of the doors.

For the record, I use to work for a company that did automotive, aerospace and military validation testing on everything from car parts to Ratheon night vision for M1 tanks. We found during a radio test that using "Airmetrix" airfresheners (available at most automotive stores) caused the paint to come off the radio, as well as other dash parts. On some products, it caused the paint to flake and peel on the dash without touch.
Hopefully you don't have this type airfreshener!

I have a silver Tundra and was going for a gray interior until I seen one with a all black interior. I fell in love with at first sight and have had it only 6 weeks but the black interior is holding up VERY good with only one treatment of Armor All.
i dont understand people complaining about a plastic dash ... what other materials do they have other then a padded dash that will crack ? i am sure you dont want a metal dash .. that would bring us back to the 60's when the mustangs had a metal dash .... i have had my truck for 5 months and my dash is fine ..
I have beige interior. I agree with those who feel the interior is somewhat cheap feeling/looking. My 05 Silverado (sold to nephew so can still see) interior looks newer than my Tundra! I took great care of it. I used Husky liners and Hatchie seat covers. Never had a problem with scuffs and scratches like I'm experiencing now. Lower door panel looks like shizz. Hopefully something aftermarket will help like kick panels or something. When something that suits my taste to replace the silver and the fuuugly radio panel I'm on it! IMO the shiny black radio looks like a 89 Maxima or something. Good thing it's so far away I can't see it good.
I do have to agree that the stock 6 disk radio sucks when your trying to read the display with sunglasses on. The display just disappears with sunglasses. I would also like the volume knob to click as you turn it up or down. I don't have time to watch the power numbers while navigating around all the idiots that NY State gave drivers licenses to
It was a liquid air freshner bought at walys, and I never scrathed the interior. The liquid must have touched the grey paint int. and i noticed the paint just came off larger than a quarter. I also own a 05 silverado and there painted dashboard would come off w/ wear also. But i just posted cause I never knew that liquid freshner would strip the paint off.

How can you blame Toyota for your sunglass issue? No offense, but take the shades off if they are a problem. Not EVERYTHING can be perfected to every situation.
