I just bought a 2007 5.7 4x4 crew max tundra and had it one day and the tranny began vibrating and shuttering in overdrive like i was driving over rumble strips. I'm extremly frustrated with the fact that toyota has a back order on tranny's and said it will take more than 3 weeks to get the repair done. anyone else have the same problem?

What warning lights did you get when you started having the problem?
You're not alone...my truck has been in the shop for two weeks as of today. The dealership is replacing both my transmission and drive shaft. The ETA for parts is 09-04-07 due to backorder problem.
First off........we are all about to be labeled "trolls"........but I just had my truck at the dealer today. It was actually a good experience. They said things are new and they are still trying to get used to the new motor and tranny. My trans felt like it wasnt catching (slipping) all the time and when slowing down it felt like it was slamming really hard. I took the truck in at 1000 miles and was told the truck was still learning my habits. Im at 5200 miles now. The tech agreed after we went for a drive today. He ran the computer on it and said it checked fine. He did say that they have had 2 transmissons that did what you are explaining. Shaking like on washboard. He said both those transmissions were changed out. He also said that from what he heard there was going to be a new "program" out soon to do something for shift points. Something about a similar problem they had on the 06 camry. They left my ticket "open" and are supposed to get back to me soon. The troll haters are gonna love this one.........The tech also told me "I'm not trying to scare you, but there is going to be more to come on the 5.7 motors." He said there was going to be a limited recall of some sort. Didnt say how many or what the problem was but that he would keep me posted. Call me a troll, who cares. I love this truck and toyota is all my wife and I drive. I just want it to be what we all want it to be........the best truck out there. Good luck on your issue. This is definitely frustrating.
You don't sound like a troll to me. In fact, you sound like a Toyota lover, that is having a problem with a "new truck" that has the "latest and newest technoligy" in it and giving the rest of us Tundra lovers a heads up. Thanx a lot. This is what this forum is all about.
Thanks guntech. Love the truck and everytime I drive I have a chip on my shoulder. Every time I park next to another truck I feel superior. I know part of the prob is getting used to the electronic gas pedal. Tech explained it to me as a rehostat like a light dimmer. That made me feel better. Its a new drive train and I think thats why I went ahead with the extra warranty. In all honesty.........its the waiting in the service department that bugs me the most!!!!!! If I hear any more Ill keep it posted.
I bought my 07 Tundra a little over a week ago. I have about 350 miles on it. I haven't experienced any clunks or noises coming from the tranny and I absolutely love the truck so far; however, when casually cruising or lightly accelerating, it intermittently feels like I'm running over a gentle rumble strip. It seems to be happening when the torque converter is transitioning to lock-up. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is this an indication that the tranny is defective, or is this normal? My dealer said he hasn't experienced it with any others and for me to bring it in. I'm almost two hours away and don't want to waste the trip if there is no cause for concern. Thanks in advance for the info.

I dont think your a troll, and I believe the latter of your comments is dead on accurate. Unlike the Big 3, Toyota will spend whatever it takes to make things right for those who have a problem that they are aware of, whether its 20 trucks or 200,000, I have seen them stand behind their reputaton too many times to doubt it. I just think things like this are so peculiar as its clear that only certain vehicles are affected, makes you wonder whether its a bad batch of parts, built on a bad month, at a certain plant, would be interesting to know why some have no problems and others are plagued with identical symptoms. Another thing is it seems like it might be regional, I know that none of the Tundras sold at my local dealership have had to be worked on for tranny concerns, nonetheless replaced and the same goes for a particular dealership in Georgia that I have inside contacts at. Weird!

had the rumble strip vibe only when off the gas coasting to a stop with no braking applied. it would only do it at around 40mph. havent felt it in about a week and hopefully its gone. it only happens for about 1 sec. still have the takeoff clunk and stopping clunk.
