    Default insurance

I was shopping for insurance since buying my tundra and my local agent wants to sign me up for costco insurance. I have heard of costco but have never been in one and had no idea thy selled insurance.

Does anyone have costco insurance and how have they been for claims? From looking at the Costco website (which had very limited information about the insurance that I could find) it appears that the costco insurance is under written by ameriprize financial.

I am a bit leary of switching companies as my current companies have been fine over the years as far as claims go but my agent says he can save me about 400 dollars a year if I switch my auto and home insurance to them. Any experience good or bad would be appricated. IM me if you want to keep any experience confidential. Thanks in advance.

This might be the wrong forum to put this question in but it is the most read and does involve an aspect of Tundra (or any vehicle) ownership.

I use State Farm, runs $880 a year with 300,000 liability. The funny thing is that the 2007 Tundra is cheaper than our 2005 Camry.
I never heard of Costco selling insurance, what kind of rates are they giving you?

Ok, what is full tort? Never heard of it.

I now have 3 vehicles. My wife has a 99 stratis that is on it's last legs, I have a 01 tacoma 4x4, and now I have the 07 tundra 4x4. I believe that I was quoted about 620 or 640 for 6 months for all three vehicles. Full coverage on both Toyotas with 250 or 500 ductiables. House coverage with more coverage then I currently have woudl run about 470 year, currently paying about 430.

With progressive, I would be paying about 840 for all three for 6 months.

With the costco insurance, I will be saving about 400 a year, with comparable coverage, which according to my agent, I now have good coverage but by switching companies, I would be saving money.

I just want to make sure that the costco insurance is more hassle free (it that makes sence) incase I ever have to make a claim.

I have my insurance through Costco it cover both my Wifes Xterra Super charged SE and my Tundra for $810 every 6 months at 300000/100000. Not a bad deal and it is through Ameriprise insurance.

    1. Shop around for insurance EVERY 5 years

    2. Get RID of your insurance agent. I saved $420 (combo with auto and home owners) by dropping my agent of 20 years and dealing directly with the insurance company. You are pay at least $200 extra a year to deal with a "nice" guy. That's a lot of expensive gasoline in my books.

I believe it comes down to a matter of lawsuits arising from small fender benders.

    Here's our strategy:
    1. Only deal with top rated insurers.
    2. Bundle your homeowner (if you are one) and auto policies.
    3. Shop your insurance policies at least every two years. It only takes a few minutes and it can save you big $$$.
    4. Use an agent if you get the best deal that way. Our current policies are with Mercury Insurance and you can only purchase their policies through an agent. We saved $600 a year with them over our previous carrier.

I had a 2005 Tundra DC and called my agent before I bought the 2007 Tundra. The difference in my premium was exactly $2/month. Also, I was quoted on the Costco program and they weren't even close to what I already had.

Not just fender benders, any accident. You give up your right to sue for pain and suffering if you choose limited tort. Worth the few bucks to me with all the idiots I see behind the wheel these days.
