Default Re: Question about transmission noises in 2007 Tundra.

I had the rumble vibration on my tundra. The vibe went away when I installed my new exhaust - this makes me think it might be a resonance problem with the design of the stock exhaust system. There's quite a bit of weight in the whole exhaust on these 07s all firmly coupled together without any swivel or flex joints, not to mention how immensly long the whole thing is (especially on a double cab with a long bed). I remember seeing weights added onto the mid-pipe on my 05 tundra. 07s don't have any of these dampening weights. It sounds totally plausible the exhaust system oscillating may be causing the rumble instead of the transmission itself.

Don't know...but Toyota drive train engineering seems to think it is the torque converter and/or how the computer is interacting with it. At least that is what the regional tech rep told me.

Ballin, I'm with you on my truck it only does it when going down an incline
in sixth gear when shifting into fifth gear with foot off the accelerator coasting from 40 to 30 miles per hour, it starts vibrating like rough pavement but not real bad. I have 6300 miles on it, it has been doing it since 1000 miles. I took it to Caldwells Toyota in Conway, Arkansas they kept it two days the service manager said Toyota wanted them to check fluid in the transmission and reset the computer they did that but it still does it the service manager told me it felt like the brake inside the transmission slowing the truck down. He said that Toyota was aware of the problems and they were expecting a service bulletin at any time to fix the problem.
